Just turned on O'Reilly's radio show.... "she looks like she would be in line for the Early Bird Special at the restaurant," Sounds about like O'Reilly's level of knowledge on the subject.

he looks to Levin for guidance regarding legal research Her nomination is not a "legal question". It is a political one. He doesn't need Levin to tell him she is a weak, at best, choice.

Somehow I don't think the President makes decisions based on how it makes you feel.
Sorry dude!

I don't think he's sugarcoating a thing. He's saying exactly what many of us feel-Bush was weak, could have done better, she might turn out great but we DON'T KNOW her at all.
Savage IS crazy...there's nothing new in that. I like him in small doses but he goes WAAAAY overboard.

I have wanted Janice Rogers Brown from before Roberts...
I am just hoping that if President Bush gets another nominee, he will consider her...a strong conservative...

For the record, I have not contended either way whether she is a strict Constructionist or not.
My objection is centered more along the lines I feel there were better qualified candidates.
Note- I am not refering to ideology. I am refering to experience and her intellectual contributions to the Courts. In this sense, I feel she is only adequate and that is a disappointment.

Rangle done lost it years ago, but of late he's even been more of a racist drama queen. Cheney is right. Of course.

Well said!
Many reliable conservatives began their political lives as Democrats who later "saw the light" and became republicans, or at least very conservative democrats. Just because she may be a recent "convert" to conservatism doesn't mean she can't be a "reliable conservative"

Cheney is peeing down the Rush's back and saying it is raining.
Of course Rush didn't point out that W's new brother was dissing him and that he work with the senior senator from MA and the killer but a knife in W's back.
All W has managed to do was do the texas two step.

Fred Barnes has a pretty good piece suggesting that we need to wait and see from the hearings before we pass judgement. Fred's an intelligent conservative. More people should listen to him.

Question for all who are let down, disappointed and angry with the president for this choice.
If Miers turns out to be a Luttig, Brown, Ted Olsen, Clarence Thomas type, will you still think as you do now?

"i dont like how rush has started this show. This is CLEARLY a horrible decision by Bush and rush knows it. He is suger coating this bigtime-- probably because cheney is coming on at 1! Savage will go crazy tonight saying rush is just a spokesman from the Republican party.."How do you know this is "CLEARLY" a horrible decision? Do you know Miers? Have you ever spoken to her? Large numbers of proven conservatives have already come out backing her up, including the very conservative church she's been a member of for many years, and Jay Sekulo. Are you somehow smarter than all of them and know things about her than they do, when they know her, and you don't?
God there is WAY too much thinking being done with emotion in this today. I'm just about out the door till rationality returns to more of the posts here.

Do you know a single person willing to go thru the trashing that a known conservative would have to endure. Yes, I do.
Janice Rogers Brown, Priscilla Owens, Bill Pryor, Miguel Estrada, and a host of others. Conservatives are not wimps who have to be protected from Ted Kennedy (unless they ride in a car with him....)

"Who are they?"
ACLJ=American Center for Law and Justice(conservative law firm) with Jay Sekulow head lawyer and director! They usually counter the ACLU on court cases!

God there is WAY too much thinking being done with emotion in this today.Yes, it will settle down. At least I haven't seen the post questioning whether FR can survive the nomination of Harriet Miers yet.

I don't think he's sugarcoating a thing. He's saying exactly what many of us feel-Bush was weak, could have done better, she might turn out great but we DON'T KNOW her at all. And how is that bad, remember Reagan nominated Bork and with the help of Oldsmobile Ted and MSM, he was rejected, and ultimately we got Justice kennedy(Douglas Ginsberg was rejected because he smoked pot in the 60's, the kook right)(buchanan etal) probably used that as a smokescreen for their objections that he was Jewish).
JMO, Bush did the correct thing.
