Ronald Reagan was once a Democrat. I guess you would have voted against him. I guess you would have voted against all those southern senators who flipped over from the Dems.

Based on her political activity since then, and based on the President's trust in her, I believe she'll probably be a fine justice.

Probably because that was 17 years ago and for the hundredth time on this thread, HE WAS PRO LIFE THEN! He was not the liberal lunatic he is now!

As has been mentioned, Gore in '88 was pro-life, and it was the peak of his and Tipper's assault on profane music lyrics. Lloyd Bentsen in 1988 was more conservative than at least 40, if not more, of our present Republican Senators. The only reason he had a D by his name was that he was from Texas, grew up in Texas, and at the time it was a Democratically controlled state. When Bentsen was in his formative years, it was essentially a one party state. Of Bentsen, Bush 41, and Quayle, Bentsen was perhaps the most "conservative" of the group.

My company's CEO donated to our Democrat Gov's re-election campaign in '04. He's nearly as conservative as I am, but it was a calculated donation for purely non-political (at least in the governmental sense) reasons. The fact that those contributions are so far out of line with the rest of her donations is far more important, and even they don't really matter all that much.

Um, people can change their views.

Not everyone is conservative from the womb.

She changed her donations to Republican in the early 90s and hasn't donated to the Dems since.
