There is this theory about de-polarization floating around. I heard Gingrich talk about it. Newt seems to think that people are 'tired' of the partizan 'bickering'. That's why he got all chummy with Hillary recently. But seems to me, now that people have more choices of their news sources, it stands to reason that two great teams would rise up: one side for truth and one side opposed to truth. The side opposed to truth will get all shrill and nasty, and so will the side for truth. In the end, truth will win, but only after a knock-down, drag-out, hammer-and-tong fight.

And the first round of that fight will be the confirmation hearings for the President's next Supreme Court nominee.

Pols that say this (e.g., also McCain) are elitist Establishment. They think they know better, and don't want to deal with the hard stuff. They would rather just enjoy and increase the trappings of power. The shrill polarization is not going away, and neither side will ever fail, unless the whole thing tanks. It' all about balance and which direction we are projecting towards at any given time--left or right.
