Other then the bomb, it was a beautiful night for a football game -- breeze the whole game and not to hot like our last two day games. They honored Joe Washington at halftime and showed highlights of his runs in 1974-75. It was great to see him honored for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

You will love what they have done to the stadium area -- made a huge difference with the brick facade.

Happy belated birthday! Glad Rita missed you and you would not be remiss in being happy Rita missed!

If I don't get to bed, we'll be having a 'belated' breakfast in the morning.

Nite all. We'll see where this stands tomorrow.

Mom, you were an invaluable source of information. Take care and keep safe.

I have been shocked at the lack of local news on the radio/tv about this -- small snippets. Even the news article from the Transcript has missing pieces from what was on the radio and then not repeated.

"Its just a question of how much of a common occurance will this become."

On that very question hinges potential decisions about internment, deportation, etc.

If the girl is correct, I'm curious why no explosions on their part?

Speculation: They were to set off the second bomb after the responders were on scene, probably remotely. Since the first bomb went off well before they intended it to, and there was no need to stick around to do that since the only casualty was the first guy. Of course, if it was a terrorist, it's possible that even the first bomb was not supposed to be a suicide, but maybe something set off by a cell phone. (Dumb thing to do in that environment as football stadiums, and campuses in general, are so full of cell phone signals it's amazing it doesn't cook the birds as they fly by.)

Because a lot of people leave the stadium to go get a beer and are given passes to get back in. My son's fraternity brother left a few minutes before the blast to go back to his house to change and was going to come back. If this bomber had gone in the crowd during halftime, about half or more the stadium is down below getting food, going out for drinks, and smoking. The area under the parking garage across from Cross is very large and packed with concession stands.

If he got in there, it would have caused a lot of panic and injuries IMHO.

I have to tell you, through the years, I had all kinds of things done to my car at football games, mostly the OU-Texas game, because of all my OU stickers and trinkets. Even had the antennae broken off several times and slashed tires. Had some bad bongos with a Nebraska fan once, too--

But the only time I ever had a potential "rumble" happen, in which I was in bodily danger, was in the ladies' room (and I *am* one) in Manhattan during an OU-KSU game. I was decked out, as always, head to toe in my Sooners red cowboy hat and red cowboy boots, shirt, jeans, temp tattoos, the whole nine yards. I also had a small boombox with a tape of Boomer Sooner in it.

I handed off the stereo to my friend when I went inside a stall - she turned it on to play the song - and then all hell broke loose. There were some very mean, very "butch" biker-type (not that there's anything wrong with that) "ladies" in their purple and gold who tried to fight us!

The only thing that saved us was that my friend is a lawyer and pulled out her card and told them to sue us and to contact her--then we actually RAN back to our seats and our hubbies! I was truly scared.

And the Left will howl about internment camps... even as they plan on making essentially the same things to get "their people" back to NOLA.

When had they found the undetonated device? That device may have had a different type of detonator, so the cell phone blackout was unnecessary.

Otherwise, it dawns on me that the bomb may have been detonated by someone calling a "wrong" number...

Actually either last year or the year before they had several games where they did not issue passes -- if you went out you could not get back in. They did it because people were passing tickets through the fence so more students could get in and they didn't pay.

This year we have an electronic system that once you use the ticket, it is no good so it cannot be passed back out. Before they used the ticket stub as your pass.

This is the first time I remember the stadium being locked down so you could not go in or out.

My daughter is in the Journalism College at OU and my son is a Graduate Assistant at OU so I hope they will have more info. I don't trust the media for the most part.

I know those kids -- they were on the Soonervision in the stadium. They all went to my daughter's high school at Norman North. Only difference is that they wear Red and white now while at North they painted themselves in green/silver/black -- the Timebrwolves colors. They are just regular kids. I never knew what the BUCs stood for -- guess I do now. They are a great bunch of guys -- my daughter's sorority has done several events with them.

It is their way of show Sooner spirit.
