"Earlier this year, an international terror alert was raised for Nigerian-born Chris Hajaig, 35, who took flight lessons at Gwinnett County Airport-Briscoe Field in 2002."

I just have to ask WHY was this guy still allowed to take lessons in this country?

Also, this reminded me of something I read somewhere [I can't remember where] about a crop duster plane stolen somewhere near the Mexican border. Does anyone remember that?

Just posted this on my website. My guess is the copycats are going to come out of the woodwork now, and someone has to figure out who is a copycat and who is a real terrorist, or if there is really any difference:

According to this report from www.signonsandiego.com this morning, a one pound Improvised Explosives Device was found under a parked car in Encinitas.

The headline says "Explosive Device wasn't a threat". I guess that's because it failed to blow up.

The article says there is no evidence the owner of the car was the target. Somehow I think if it were MY car, I'd feel more than a little bit targeted!

Explosive device wasn't a threat

October 11, 2005

ENCINITAS – The Sheriff Department's Bomb/Arson Unit retrieved and disassembled an "improvised explosive device" under a parked car on El Camino Real yesterday.

A maintenance worker spotted the device about 9 a.m. while working at a nearby apartment complex and called authorities, said sheriff's Sgt. Chris Serritella.

The Bomb/Arson Unit determined that the one-pound device, which had a fuel source and fuse, wasn't a threat, said detective Robert Luke.

"The device failed to function as planned," Serritella said.

Although the device was found under a car, Serritella said, there was no indication the owner was a target.

A southbound lane on El Camino Real was closed during the investigation.

There was a crop duster plane stolen about 2 years ago in Tecate, California on the border, the FBI has alerts on it still.
