The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief
Full Story

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

Just posted this on my website. My guess is the copycats are going to come out of the woodwork now, and someone has to figure out who is a copycat and who is a real terrorist, or if there is really any difference:

According to this report from www.signonsandiego.com this morning, a one pound Improvised Explosives Device was found under a parked car in Encinitas.

The headline says "Explosive Device wasn't a threat". I guess that's because it failed to blow up.

The article says there is no evidence the owner of the car was the target. Somehow I think if it were MY car, I'd feel more than a little bit targeted!

Explosive device wasn't a threat

October 11, 2005

ENCINITAS – The Sheriff Department's Bomb/Arson Unit retrieved and disassembled an "improvised explosive device" under a parked car on El Camino Real yesterday.

A maintenance worker spotted the device about 9 a.m. while working at a nearby apartment complex and called authorities, said sheriff's Sgt. Chris Serritella.

The Bomb/Arson Unit determined that the one-pound device, which had a fuel source and fuse, wasn't a threat, said detective Robert Luke.

"The device failed to function as planned," Serritella said.

Although the device was found under a car, Serritella said, there was no indication the owner was a target.

A southbound lane on El Camino Real was closed during the investigation.

Interesting note on that airplane, it appears that there is a Plantation, Florida.

Toby may be from "Song of the South".
or
A Commander in the Irish Army.

A slave for one thing.

http://www.google.com/search?client=googlet&q=Plantation%20Toby

**I was sure that I saw a Plantation Airlines in Hawaii, but it is missing, the second time I looked, but take a look it
is interesting.

http://www.google.com/search?client=googlet&q=plantation%20airlines

Oh, dear, this one is a lifetime search, no matter what your special interest, it is in this search......

http://www.google.com/search?client=googlet&q=Authorities%20investigate%20threat%20found%20on%20p

There I go again, didn't finish the word plane above and got a good search, but not the same as the word plane, you will like this one, it has lots of information on the first page, did not go further, will after a nap.

http://www.google.com/search?q=Authorities+investigate+threat+found+on+plane&btnG=Search&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&client=googlet

Note the OSama bin Laden News, it looks like it is a note that says French instead of Plantation airlines, I noticed
it on the plane search and thought it was the same, but the 4th one on this page, shows French.....

There was a crop duster plane stolen about 2 years ago in Tecate, California on the border, the FBI has alerts on it still.

Follow up: "Plantation Airlines" may refer to some angry black thing, where United Express (the airline on which the note was found)is being accused of racism or some kind of exploitation. Just a guess at this point, but I wouldn't rule anything out.

You are welcome V...just one of those stories that makes me tear up just reading about this poor little child. The Homeland Security connection is a little troubling. Maybe there are jurisdictions that because of their location merit DHS help....maybe a specific threat. Still looking for more info.

Iranian plot to take over Southern Iraq uncovered

A British newspaper revealed last week that western intelligence officers had uncovered an Iranian conspiracy - formulated seven months before coalition forces swept through Iraq - for taking over Southern Iraq. The Daily Telegraph reported the conspiracy, established in the headquarters of Iran’s spy agency Etelaat, was to extend Iranian influence in the south as soon as Saddam Hussain was forced to flee.

Saddam’s Republican guard all but fled Basra as British troops advanced on Iraq’s second biggest city. Shiite paramilitary group, the Badr Brigade, forced to take refuge in Iran during Saddam’s rule, flooded back across the border to take control of deserted government offices.

Several southern cities became so saturated that the British military were forced to work with the militia men.

"Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims cross the border every year heading to Shiaa religious festivals in Najaf and Kerbala," a British official told the Daily Telegraph. "It was impossible to distinguish the genuine pilgrims from those up to no good."

Comparisons between the Iranian backed Lebanese militant group Hizbollah and the Badr Brigade have drawn, and if next weeks referendum results in a “yes” vote to approve Iraq’s draft constitution (with its federal incantations) there is a possibility that "a semi-state that is more loyal to Tehran than Baghdad" could be created.

Last week Iran strenuously denied allegations by British Prime Minister Tony Blair of supplying bombs and weapons to Basra based militia groups that had killed British troops.

"Iran has no motive for intervening in the domestic affairs of Iraq," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said in a statement read on state television on Saturday.

"The accusations are baseless. Blair is accusing others to cover up Britain's failure to provide security in Iraq," Asefi added.

Blair had accused Iran on Thursday of interfering in Iraq, saying that new explosive devices used "not just against British troops but elsewhere in Iraq ... lead us either to Iranian elements or to Hezbollah," the Iranian-backed group in Lebanon.

Both the Iranian ambassador to London, Seyed Mohammad Hussain Adeli, and Hezbollah denied the allegation in separate statements.

Hree is another article in the local SD Tribune this morning that caught my eye. Look for more to be coming to light about the SDS, Weathermen, and Black Panthers.

http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20051011/news_1n11guide.html

Guide at UC Santa Barbara urges return to activism

>>SANTA BARBARA – Leftist leaders at the University of California Santa Barbara have begun distributing a profanity-sprinkled "Disorientation Guide" that calls for a return to the activist spirit of the 1960s.

The guide, which came out last week, features interviews with the college's "most politically active" professors, a directory of local liberal organizations and commentaries on subjects including feminism, corporate media, proper "queer" terminology and the value of blogs.

It chronicles the history of UC Santa Barbara activism, including the infamous 1970 burning of the Bank of America in Isla Vista. "A lot of people have passion for certain issues, but never direct it to work on campus because UCSB has this reputation for being apathetic," said Tanya Paperny, one of eight current and former students who created the guide.

Critics lament its use of raw language and suggest it's inappropriate for some professors to help pay for printing costs.

Will Parrish, a former University of California Santa Cruz student who brought the guide idea to Santa Barbara, defended the language.

"One of the things we were trying to do is appeal to students in a way that they don't think we're part of the establishment, or what we're doing is watered down in any way," he said. <<
