Authorities Investigate Wildlife Poisoning in Champaign County (IL - 10/8/05)
GIBSON CITY, Ill. State and federal conservation agents have raided a farm in northern Champaign County as part of a probe into the possible poisoning of wildlife, including coyotes and raptors.
Captain Rafael Gutierrez of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources says the investigation began after his agency received complaints of dead animals in the area.
Gutierrez says police believe people were injecting meat with agriculture herbicides and leaving it in fields for coyotes, which would die after eating the poison. The toxin would work its way through the food chain after other animals ate the coyote carcasses.
Included in the toll were birds, including redtail hawks and turkey vultures.
I heard part of the report on the radio, sounds odd, 330 sick kids from 7 schools.....what did they eat?
It may be a couple days before it hits Promed.
Thanks all4one.
I appreciate updates on both these articles.
Thank you for posting this article on the children in Ukraine. Have there been any updates on the source? Prayers for these little ones...
