I heard about the odd smells on Coast to Coast, I think Friday night. I had been smelling sulfer or sewer gas in Santa Clarita from the freeway for about a week prior to hearing about it.
What do you think about this "methane burp?"
....bedtime placemark....
'Nite folks. Stay Alert.
By odd coincidence, Bill Clinton was spotted in South Dakota eating Chili Dogs with Sauerkraut and drinking a beer. Connection? Hmmmmmmmm

"Hinrichs Tried To Buy Ammonium Nitrate"
POSTED: 5:16 pm CDT October 4, 2005
UPDATED: 6:10 pm CDT October 4, 2005
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "NORMAN, Okla. -- The general manager of a Norman feed store said Tuesday that Joel Henry Hinrichs III had inquired about purchasing a significant amount of ammonium nitrate, the primary ingredient used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
Dustin Ellison, the general manager of Ellison Feed & Seed on Porter Avenue, said that a man matching Hinrichs' description had come into the store days before he blew himself up on OU's campus. Ellison said the man asked about ammonium nitrate, but couldn't offer a reason why he needed it."

"Dad: Oklahoma student bomber wasn't politically motivated"
Tuesday, October 4, 2005; Posted: 12:41 p.m. EDT (16:41 GMT) NORMAN, Oklahoma (AP) --
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The father of a University of Oklahoma student who committed suicide outside a packed football stadium using explosives said Monday his son didn't intend to harm anyone else or push a political agenda.
Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, died Saturday when a device attached to his body exploded about 8 p.m. while he sat on a bench, officials said.
The blast could be heard inside the stadium less than 100 yards away where more than 80,000 people attended OU's game against Kansas State.
Joel Hinrichs Jr. said that his son did not leave a suicide note and that FBI agents told him hydrogen peroxide was used to construct the bomb."

I'm in a wait & see mode. The roommate and the cache of explosives are variables that need investigating. I'm not sure this constitutes a "cell" as such. More likely it's liberal brainwashing and student protests taken to extremes with a bit of Jihadi false promises about their version of the afterlife. I don't think these stupid kids were acting on orders. I do however, worry about copycats across the country. The University of Miami is a sizzling hotbed of islamic extremeism. I have seen it firsthand. I mean, look who the Chancellor is: Donna "Boom-Boom" Shalayla!
Let's hope so. They haven't given a lot of indication that they understand the technical details of nuclear bombs - one of their "source materials" found in Afganistan was a reprint from the Journal of Irreproduceable Results for crying out loud. (The Journal was a publication - no longer published - that printed humourous scientific satire). However it's likely that they have at least some members who are more sophisticated and less gullible.
What's more likely is a series of "dirty bombs" - this is much easier (a simple dirty bomb could be built by any reasonably bright high school or even junior high kid who had access to radioactive materials). It would also be in keeping with their usually inflated rhetoric, where the destruction of the Twin Towers was magnified into the conquest of New York. Though it would still be no picnic - a few dirty bombs could cause a huge amount of disruption especially if they dispersed enough radioactive material, but they wouldn't produce anywhere near the destruction of a nuclear bomb or two.
However the clock is ticking for their plans - if they want to claim the mantle of the Mahdi and the new Caliphate, they need to do so soon. Going by the astrological signs that have been claimed for the emergence of the Mahdi, the years 2003-2006 are critical. The astrological signs won't have this good a match for hundreds of years - if they don't make much of a mark soon, it will be that much harder to convince the less fanatical Muslims that they're really the movement of the Mahdi. It is quite clear that they'd very much like to cast themselves in that role.
If he and his Pakistani roommate had connections to the local mosque and lots of bomb making materials and jihad books, I tend to think it that is was coordinated on some level - just as the London bombings were.

Here's more on the PG&E burned woman:
A woman was burned over about half her body early this morning when a piece of high-voltage electrical equipment flashed while she was allegedly tampering with it at a strip shopping mall in San Jose.
Police and fire officials said a man drove the woman to Fire Station 18, 4430 Monterey Highway, which is about 8 miles south of the incident, where paramedics treated her and brought her to the hospital.
The woman was taken to a local hospital and officials described the woman's condition as grave.
Police were called to the area of Meridian and Foxworthy avenues at about 3:04 a.m. by neighborhood reports of a transformer explosion. While police were on the scene of the incident, a call came less than 10 minutes later saying that a woman had been brought to Fire Station 18 with severe burns.
Investigators later learned that the woman had been at the scene of the reported explosion, said police Sgt. Nick Muyo.
Jeff Smith, a spokesman with PG&E said the woman had accessed a meter panel and was apparently trying to remove it when she accidentally crossed two wires, which caused a ``flashover'' -- an electrical discharge.
Smith said he didn't know why the woman was tampering with the utility's equipment.
