The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief
Full Story

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

Opinion: That drawing is rather vague and some people do think that it may look like goal posts.

MTA To Install Surveillance Cameras In Subway TunnelsThe Eyewitness News Investigators
(New York-WABC, July 18, 2005 ) - The MTA is confirming that it will install high tech surveillance cameras in every underwater tunnel connecting Manhattan to Long Island, New Jersey and the northern suburbs. The move stems from the deadly terrorist attacks in London.

Sarah Wallace is on the Upper West Side with more.
An MTA spokesman maintains the closed circuit TV plan has been in the works for some time but there's no denying it received new attention following the London Terror bombings. Now the plan is getting action - a spokesman tells me installation will begin sooner rather than later - likely in the next couple of months.

Gerry Kane, Retired Policeman: "The tunnels are the number one place where they should apply this technology."

And retired cop Gerry Kane knows from where he speaks. Six years ago he ran the transit detective squad for Manhattan, now he helps run a security firm that installs and monitors closed circuit TV systems in more than 300 office buildings.

Gerry Kane: "All these monitors tie-in to computers and all the computers weave the images."

He weighed in on MTA's plan to install video cameras to detect intruders entering the 14 subway and commuter rail tunnels leading to Manhattan.

Gerry Kane: "You can integrate that with access control technology, which will tell the person in the MTA office that an authorized person has entered the location."

Or an unauthorized person.

Gerry Kane: "You could have that in the tunnels, there's nothing that would stop that from being in the tunnels."

It was a CCTV camera that helped catch the London bombers, after the fact. No one makes the argument the video could have prevented the attack. They were just men with backpacks, but still, CCTV cameras are widely believed to deter crime - including in New York City's housing projects.

So why wasn't the MTA camera-ready before? A spokesman says they were working out technical issues.

Sarah Wallace: "Do you think that it's a little late?"

Governor George Pataki: "Obviously I want everything done yesterday let alone tomorrow, but we're going to continue to push, they're going to do it, and we're just going to make sure it happens as quickly as it can."

Commuter: "It should have been done before to deter, it's still an ounce of prevention and a pound of cure."

Commuter: "I think it's alright because security will be a lot better and why they haven't done it yet I have no idea but it's good that it's going on now."

The initial plan is for several dozen cameras - the cost - several hundred million dollars, but then again, the MTA has $600 million capital funding.

"While I read this report on the subway blueprints, all I could think of was the Beslan (sp?) school in Russia. "

We have been talking about this happening for a couple of
years now. They have had quite a bit of time to work under-cover and have things in place.

I still would like to beleive there not ready yet.

Federal agencies investigating report of shooting near border
Sierra Vista Herald, Sierra Vista Arizona ^ | Oct 8, 20055 | GENTRY BRASWELL

Posted on 10/08/2005 7:59:54 PM PDT by SandRat

SIERRA VISTA -- Four people believe they were shot at from south of the border on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Border Patrol.

But no evidence has yet been found to substantiate the incident, Border Patrol spokesman Gustavo Soto said Wednesday.

U.S. Forest Service investigators also have not found evidence to support the report.

"They perceived shots having been fired," Border Patrol spokeswoman Andrea Zortman said Thursday. "We turned everything over to the Park Service."

Kym Hall, Coronado National Memorial's superintendent, said four people were stopped as they passed eastbound through the memorial at about 7:45 a.m. for driving erratically. The immediate investigation continued because the vehicle occupied by the four people contained an assortment of firearms.

Upon further questioning by park police, the vehicle occupants told of the incident near the border, west of the Coronado National Memorial property.

Park police then called in Border Patrol agents to take a report since the incident allegedly took place at the U.S.-Mexico border.

But because the alleged victims have revised their report since the originally submitting it to authorities and there is no evidence as yet, Hall said details of the incident report have not been fully disclosed at this time.

Yes, you got it, we have run into that before.

The books are the blueprints.

Blueprints are not that common, unless they are small size, it isn't every office that can copy them.

Are there Indian Reservations near Dillon, Montana?

The muslims have been moving into the indian tribes near the Cana Border, converting the indians, taking indian wives and then getting papers that show they are indians.

I have read that they come and go across the border to Canada on the reservations.

Has the UN Let a Blacklisted Islamic Charity Roam Free in Kosovo?
Serbianna.com ^ | Oct 09, 2005 | zagor-te-nej

Posted on 10/08/2005 8:58:33 PM PDT by zagor-te-nej

When it comes to charities suspected of terrorist involvement, at what point can a series of independent actions be said to indicate coordinated and malevolent intent? And if they do in fact indicate such intent, what should be done about it?

These are the questions that Thomas Gambill, a former security officer with the OSCE, had to wrestle with during his time in Kosovo, in regards to several Islamic NGOs and charities whose stated activities seemed benign, but whose latent motives were more suspicious.

According to Gambill, whose whistleblower testimony first came out on Antiwar.com in August, the verdict is not good: in more than one case, UN bosses of the occupied Serbian province "have turned a blind eye" to dangerous charities – including a local branch of an Islamic fundamentalist group that has been linked to terrorist attacks and/or extremism in countries ranging from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan to Azerbaijan, Albania, and Bosnia – a group that has, in fact, been partially blacklisted by both the Bush administration and the UN since January 2002.

I should think that if you have trained men, you could put something together in one to three days.

Some of it can be done with a computer, like the 'speeding trains', I think it was Chicago, that has had 2 in the same spot in a month....both drivers say the slow down signal did not say to slow down.

If it is messing with the computers, that can be done from
any where in the world.

I listened to a computer program this afternoon, it explained how to get into someone else's computer with a free program, if you can get the needed pass words, this man
wanted to clean and adjust his sisters computer in another town.......actually it is a thought, I need someone to clean this one up and remove some of the programs.....

Said it done right, it would be as though he was sitting at the sisters computer and he would be able to do what he wanted to do to it.
