Blueprints for Major Subway Station Found on Doorstep (NYC - September 2005)

(New York- WABC, September 20, 2005) - An Eyewitness News investigation raises serious questions about subway security. Highly sensitive blue prints for the busy Roosevelt Avenue station in Jackson Heights, Queens mysteriously ended up on the steps of an apartment building in Manhattan.
That really is the question and it's the second time this year that blue prints showing every nook and cranny of a major transportation hub have ended up on the city streets.
James Bloor: "They were found right here outside my building like that."
It took James Bloor just seconds to realize that the documents were architectural blueprints for one of New York City's busiest subway station's - the Roosevelt Avenue 74th Street Complex.
James Bloor: "This was way too much information for anyone outside the MTA and people involved in this project to have."
For security reasons, we've decided to show only a fraction of the blueprints. They're copies of the original, highly detailed design plans for an $87 million rehabilitation project that is now nearly complete at the huge Queens terminal.
Nicholas Casale, Former MTA Security Official: "This gives in great detail both structural integrity of the system, where the electrical power is coming from, where the communication is coming from."
A former MTA security official who sued the authority after he was fired says the loss of the blueprints is a major security breech [sic].
Nicholas Casale: "You can't let sensitive, critical information like this end up on the streets of Manhattan."
New York City Transit Authority says "the matter is under investigation" but its "security personnel does not deem these documents as sensitive."
The authority adds that it, "requires consultants and others who receive these documents to dispose of them in a more effective and secure manner."
Earlier this year blueprints of the Atlantic Avenue subway station were found in the trash in Brooklyn. Now, blueprints for the Roosevelt station show up on a Chelsea sidewalk.
While the Transit Authority insists the blueprints are not security-sensitive, a member of the NYPD Intelligence Unit responded immediately to a call from the man who found the blueprints.
James Bloor: "Whoever is in charge of these plans they have to be more careful."
The Transit Authority says it has contacted the NYPD intelligence unit, but has yet to take a look at the lost blueprints.

With a security clampdown in the city's subway system continuing indefinitely, a city official said Saturday that three men arrested in Iraq in connection with a suspected terrorist plot were believed credible because they are not low-level insurgents, are well-connected outside of their country and had traveled abroad.
The three men, whom authorities have not identified and who are being questioned by U.S. forces, were believed to have planned to leave Iraq and travel through Syria to arrive in the United States on Friday and deliver a London-like bombing on or around Sunday, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Little was known about a fourth person who officials said may be in the New York City area, having entered the country from Syria. It remained unclear if the person actually exists.

Very interesting!
Throwing hands up in frustration
If even one police officer is killed by an MS-13 member on that date (or any other date forthcoming), it will be one death way too many.

Thank you RDTF.
I see you got pinged anyway :)
I understand.
I know you recall the border officers that have already been shot.
Well, I can't say what I feel about this.
Smiling...
That's ok, between my pings, emails, freepmails, messengers, etc...I'm one lucky girl and up to date.
Not so good. I sure hope nothing happens tomorrow.
What happens in DHS, stays in DHS. Okay, so they don't have a handle on who is in the country, or if they are in the country....okay again there are so many illegals (countless) that the very idea of sorting through them and getting their heinies out of here is beyond comprehension....

DHS: Attacks possible in other cities, transit not only target <<
If this is true or could be true, what word has your city or DHS put out for your protection? Answer: _____________
Big question is how important were they to the plot being successful? If they were leaders of cells, we are in business... if they just taught how to make bombs, we could still have some trouble.
It is possible that dodo is a Ramadan play, like in the theater.

47th...74th...????
While I read this report on the subway blueprints, all I could think of was the Beslan (sp?) school in Russia.
The weapons had been hidden in the walls, ceiling, floor and the stage, by the workers, while doing the remodeling on the school.
Looked up Dillon, MT in my handy-dandy roadmap. It's way south of Butte, MT, nearer to Barretts Dam Recreation Area (closer to Montana's southern border), a place loaded with campsites.
OFF TOPIC AND TIRED OF GAMES...Let's see if I have a secret ink code.
Yep, here it is.
Twisting my special Ramadan secret decoder ring, I find
this message, pbuh and here's what it says:
Terrorists will die.
Terrorists will be arrested.
Ahhhhhhh, paradise for terrorists is eternal jail in Hell.
Well, ok, now time for the ouiji board....
That correct.
There have been several incidents which clearly showed the events
were pre-planned, pre-staged, and prepared in advance.
'47th...74th...????'
That's what I was wondering.
