The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

Thanks for the info BK. DHS tried to downplay this. Seems it was VERY credible. DHS discredits themselves by trying to placate us civilians by outright lies instead of telling us what we NEED to know to secure our own safety. UNFORGIVABLE!

The DHS like the police are here to protect SOCIETY, not us as individuals. Our own safety is our own responsibility. Freedom = Responsibility and Responsibility = Freedom.

Those who are willing to sacrifice their Freedom for safety deserve neither. (I can't remember who said it.)

Seems another attack has been foiled - for now.

That scares me as much as the terrorists JP. If we are willing to sacrifice our freedom for safety - we deserve neither and our terrorist enemies have won.

Not much solace there, but we are facing VERY troubling times. My prediction (based on Biblical prophecy), it will get worse. Much worse.

The Bayer article made me think of the gang members that were caught with over the counter medicines they were stealing from Walgreens. I wonder if they were aspirin, midol, etc...

Then, I wonder if the North American Community is spurring these types of investment.

Al Qaeda in Iraq leader Zarqawi backs killing civilian ‘infidels’: website

DUBAI - Iraq’s Al Qaeda leader Abu Musab Al Zarqawi said militants were justified under Islam in killing civilians as long as they are infidels, according to an audiotape attributed to him on Friday.

“Islam does not differentiate between civilians and military (targets) but rather distinguishes between Muslims and infidels,” said the man on the tape posted on the Internet, who sounded like Zarqawi.

“Muslim blood must be spared ... but it is permissible to spill infidel blood,” said the speaker.

The comments appeared a day after the Pentagon said it had obtained a letter to Zarqawi from Al Qaeda’s second in command, Ayman Al Zawahri, saying tactics being used such as bombing mosques and killing hostages might alienate the Muslim masses.

“In this letter, he talks about believing that the eventual governance of Iraq must include the Muslim masses, and that they are at risk of alienating those,” Pentagon spokesman Brian Whitman told reporters in Washington on Thursday.

Friday’s tape was posted on a website which usually carries statements and videotapes from Al Qaeda’s wing in Iraq.

The speaker said the concept of Jihad (holy struggle) was coming under distorting attacks by “the enemies of Islam” trying to portray it as a tool “for spreading bloodshed and destruction”.

“Many Muslims have been affected by this campaign and they began shying away from using this term (jihad) for fear of being accused of terrorism. They instead replaced it with the term resistance...

“This has tarnished Jihad and its supporters and led to the inclusion of factions that have nothing to do with Jihad such as the rejectionist (Shia) Hizbollah, Fatah movement and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine,” he said, referring to the Lebanese and Palestinian guerrilla groups.

“All this has been done under the pretext that whoever defends his country against the enemy and fights an occupier is involved in resistance. But Jihad is much deeper than that.”
