Opposing lawyers share thoughts on Schiavo case
Palm Beach Daily News ^ | October 1, 2005 | Michele Dargan

The only issue that David Gibbs can ever remember Jesse Jackson and Rush Limbaugh agreeing on was the fact that Terri Schiavo should remain alive.

...

Gibbs called removing Schiavo's feeding tube "barbaric and uncivilized." Florida law does not allow the starvation of animals and the constitution does not allow the starvation of convicted murderers, he said.

...

Felos said faith-based organizations, religious leaders, priests and rabbis distorted the facts in the Schiavo case.

[If my wife was in such a state I would allow physical therapy. I would want her to go outside in the sunshine and to receive friends and flowers. I would want her to have her teeth cleaned and life threatening infections treated. I would allow ‘pet therapy’ and for the blinds to be opened in her room. Even if she had told me she wanted no exceptional medical measures taken, I would make sure her existence while she was still alive was as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Common sense and natural compassion call for such simple measures yet these were the things that Michael denied Terri for many years.]

BykrBayb wrote: "How can anyone disagree with those sentiments? And yet, some do."

And yet, sickeningly, some do. But they are the few who do not matter to thinking and prominent Conservatives, Constitutional scholars, and compassionate Americans.

Stupid is as stupid does. Cold is as cold does. Judicial activism is as judicial activism does. It will always be the case in life.

OMG. That is BEYOND laughable.

It's sad, really.

[New Chief Justice John Roberts stepped forward Wednesday as an aggressive defender of federal authority to block doctor-assisted suicide, as the Supreme Court clashed over an Oregon law that lets doctors help terminally ill patients end their lives.]

Bears repeating.

Thank you for the link, BykerBayb.

[When people say Ms. Schiavo received due process that is not true because the state is not permitted to have such a process, period. For any state to have a process that executes a person or citizen unconvicted of a crime is not a matter of due process because there can be no such process. The 14th Amendment mandates that the right to life be protected by the federal government if a state materially fails in its duty to secure the inalienable right to life. For any federal judge to fail in that 14th Amendment duty is "bad behavior" and criminal negligence. When the federal courts treated the matter pro forma as a procedural one rather than one of substantive rights, the courts materially breached their duty to a person who is also a citizen of the United States under the 14th Amendment with both personhood and citizenship rights. In light of the fact that the federal judges' malfeasance has materially redefined (by inaction) something as fundamental to all persons and American citizens as the right to life, and demonstrated by precedent that the federal courts criminally disregard their duty to uphold the right to life, they have failed to maintain the standard of good conduct required of a federal judge and forfeited the respect and obedience of the American people. "]

I wanted to post this part of the letter again. Thank you for posting it in total, FV, and I will definately print and email it to my US Representatives.

Yes, it's true, and happens over and over again. Back around Easter, many were noticing the symbolism in the names of many people involved in this. And the names were often suggestive of their role in the whole thing. Sometimes, suggestive of good behavior too. I was struck by the name of the boy who got arrested for taking water to Terri.

There was much symbolism (clues) in the timing of events, too. Yes, there's plenty out there for those with eyes and ears.

"This does a fairly good job of explaining how we came to this point, when a disabled woman's right to be recognized as a human being with the inalienable right to life was denied. Dred Scott and Terri Schiavo - The Long and Tortured Death of the 14th Amendment At the Hands of the Federal Judiciary. It doesn't explain everyone's motives, but it does explain how our judiciary came to be so out of control that the courts failed so miserably in their duty."

Yes, it explains it well. I'd like to add that there were some whose motives weren't just focused on one person, Terri Schindler. There were some who were focused on getting a judicial precedent that could be applied more widely.

"Felos probably has guilt issues, which is why he is afraid of religion."

He probably does. If he doesn't have guilt issues, he should.

He'd guillotine them, huh? What kind of person is he? (Never mind - that was a rhetorical question.)

"Speaking for me, 8mm, as a parent of a disabled person from birth, we had no such questions as she poses. There was no dilemma, no gut wrenching decisions. Choose life, that's all."

I have a distant relative who has been physically handicapped from birth. Birth was 45 years ago. Owns his own business now that benefits other people. People who might have not been benefitted at all in a world run by Mr. Lister's sort. Gotta stop it. It's a worldwide fight.

This discussion is on living wills. Thank you, Cheryl Ford.

Most attorneys recommend two: a Living Will and a Designation of Health Care Surrogate form. However, Terri Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler (and their former attorney, Pat Anderson) don't recommend that anyone sign a Living Will. Before making a decision and downloading the forms you feel are right for you, read this entire article and consider talking with your family and consulting with your attorney.

Oregon is the only state with an assisted-suicide law, but other states may pass their own if the court rules in Oregon's favor.

And more.......

By Diana Lynne © 2005 WorldNetDaily.com

Assisted suicide is illegal in Florida – as it is in every state but Oregon – yet the name "Terri Schiavo" frequently crops up in press reports about the Supreme Court reviewing Oregon's assisted-suicide law, suggesting many viewed the case as either an assisted suicide or "mercy killing."

Was Terri Schiavo's death assisted suicide?

The morning crew on WFLA 970 am radio was having a discussion about the assisted suicide issue before the US Supremes. Ted Webb made my day. One of them mentioned Terri Schiavo and he said "Well, that was assisted murder."

Jack Harris who does Hospice's radio ads said "Well, uh, blah, blah, blah, "the withholding of something, blah, blah, blah." Jack Harris shilling for Hospice makes me sick.

Ted Webb told it like it is. Terri was starved and dehydrated to death, yes, withhholding is a stealth way to say it.

TED WEBB, is fabulous and that took guts to say point blank, knowing that JACK HARRIS is regularly shilling away for the merchants of death.

TED WEBB: "Well, that was assisted murder." October 6, 2005

Judge Greed says "I dunno." When I see those words, it get that creepy feeling. Most evil judge in Amerika http://www.judgegeorgegreer.com. I've heard there are more anti-Greer web sites popping up but haven't had time to look for them.

INDICT JUDGE GREER SOMEBODY!!!

What I'm afraid of is that the Pinellas GOP is lining up candidates for next year's state races who are going to always back up Greer so that the Fla House never impeaches Greer.

The feds need to indict Greer because he owns the State of Florida and they will never do their duty.

Re: 105. Thanks. If we don't stay on our elected leaders, they'll put disabled rights on the back burner. Terri didn't get due process, Michael Schiavo got the gift of a lifetime. The entire United States helped him dispose of his wife.
