Leno was on the radio this morning claiminng the Governor was under a lot of pressure to sign the bill. He didn't get that right, either.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger followed through Thursday on his promise to veto a bill to legalize gay marriage in California, saying . . . <>"F*#& you a$%@&*!s"

"I swear I will not kill anyone."

I guess they don't remember the courts track record and the many times the people's will got slapped down before.

So...he should have *not* vetoed the bill? I don't get where you are coming from here. He did what was in his power to do.

The good folks of California voted to ban same sex marriage! We can't get more cut and dry than that!

Let's be polite to the gay community and inform them that they can move to Canada, get married, and reside there.

This vetoe by Arnold must be driving Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein and Howard Dean looney!

California seems like it's run by its own version of a politicheskoe buro. The will of the people be damned. The courts, as usual, will have the final say so.

I don't think it really mattered what he did today or Gastric Nuisance did early this year, both decisions were and are mute and are for political gain only, imo.

As things sit now, it is up to the court,, he could have let it set on his desk and done nothing. I don't recall it haveing overwhelming support or that it as vetoproof.

If I am wrong, correct me. Please.

In gfact, he may have effectively killed any possibilities of gaining support from gay folks for his initiaitves by acting as he has, so which is more important long-term?

The "will of the sheeple" is what elects the folks to the legislature in the first place.

Long or short term doesn't matter. He stood on principle.

That's a head-cratcher for this state. They will vote against DL for illegal aliens and a ban on gay marriages, but will reflexively send lefties to the state legislature

You used the 'P' word, I'm telling the CA GOP leadership..
Oh, strike that, they don't care about principle anymore, imo.

Political ploy, pure and simple.

And while everybody is cheering this and looking the other way, he signs a bunch more
GLBT legislation giving gays all the rights of married people.
