MEN are dogs. No, really. Men are dogs, according to a new book causing a stir in Britain called "Everything I Know About Men I Learnt From My Dog," which says there's a reason canines are man's best friend. They eat from the same bowls.
"There is really no difference at all between men and dogs when it comes to natural instincts and behavior," writes British socialite Clare Stapes, a former model who has been linked to mutts like musician Robbie Williams and actor Dougray Scott.
The picture-driven, mini coffee-table read divulges techniques on how to improve ill-fated relationships with your men - from giving a guy treats, knowing his sweet spots, ignoring him, never interfering with his work, setting your boundaries and always letting him know that he is the top dog.
"By the simple act of comparing men to dogs, Staples has achieved what a hundred years of psychology and self-help books haven't: She has finally made the male sex comprehensible," writes "Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell, a good friend of Staples, in the book's forward.
Several years ago, Bushnell and Staples - both former party girls who dated playboys and plenty of untamed dogs - took a flight from Britain to New York, where they caused quite a ruckus talking about men and dogs. Hence, the book.

Toddler attacked by family pet

A TODDLER has been attacked by a dog in the backyard of her western Sydney home.
The 19-month-old girl had been trying to pat the family pet, an eight-year-old male pit bull terrier, when it jumped up at her, biting her face, a police spokesman said.
Police were called to the house in Hitter Avenue, Bass Hill, about 11.55am (AEST) today.
