Another Chinese revolution?
The ChiComs will need to thin the herd or expand the empire to quiet things down if this is a growing problem.
We can only hope and pray that this time the Chinese people get it right and have true freedom.
Another Chinese crackdown in the making. :') China's never had a revolution, it's only had a civil war, and the result was the replacement of an illiberal democracy with a single party state dictatorship, which has endured to this day. My Marxist brother-in-law said, after Tienamen (sp?) square, that the fact that such a large demonstration could take place -- 40 years after the supposed revolution -- showed that the Chinese had not had a people's revolution. :') And he added, "they're finished" (meaning Mao's successors).
No doubt about it. It is estimated that:
- at least 40 per cent of the Chinese have tuberculosis
and
- there's a surplus of at least 40 million male Chinese, due to the one-child law
The population of China will make a slow spiral down, and that's the best news for China. The consequences which follow will be too terrible to deal with, particularly on such a scale. I'd be very surprised if China doesn't go to war with someone adjacent to their territory within ten years.
The consequences of communist rule is to reap the whirlwind; any dead commie is a positive step towards a free humanity...
Here's another for instance...they could put those excess bodies to the work of war. It's a well proven method of distracting unhappy minds from a bad domestic situation.

That means they can lose 5 million invading Taiwan and not bat an eye.
Read about China during the 1930's under the KMT. There were statistical improvements in idustrialization, education, standard of living in the cities, despite the corruption and nepotism in the KMT government. Disparity between the poor in the rural areas (90 percent) and growing middle class in the cities (10 percent) gave the Communist an issue to agitate the rural poor. Today we have a similiar situation, the cities modernized and grew more affluent while the poor is getting poorer because the new rich classes in the cities past laws to shut out any new comers and started to form corporations which crushed any new small businesses from expanding. These new corporations are being runned by children of Communist officials and future promotions are reserved for them. If your kids did not go to Youth School, they will not be the first to attend the good universities and be the first in line for good corporate jobs and promotion opportunities. I think China is heading for another revolution.

Alas, no where throughout its ancient history China has never known freedom; not as we in the West understand it.

One has to wonder if China is the ideal growth market for, say, facial tissue...
You're onto something -- the Chinese have done all four of those. They haven't invaded Taiwan, but it's clear they intend to; they've seized a disputed archipelago (claimed by Vietnam and the Philipines, at least) which has oil under it; they are building a sub fleet; and they've been expanding their presence in Africa (Sudan in particular) after abortive attempts in the 1970s.
Problem with single party states is, the despots lead from the rear.

As i have said before, the economic reform will change the political structure, nothing new here.
