Bad Boys (FBI finds "deserting" police on New Orleans payroll don't exist)

Hours before New Orleans Police Superintendent Eddie Compass announced his resignation, Tony relayed some hot information he had heard from his Capitol Hill sources. It regarded an FBI investigation currently under way.

You can go to the source above and listen to that segment of his radio show.

Farrakhan didn't say who he thought was behind the plot to blow up New Orleans' levees.

New Orleans Police Foundation
Elodia Blanco, Recruiting Coordinator

I don't know where she lives now , but in 1999 Elodia Blanco wanted to be permanently relocated because her home was located on a toxic dump.

Online News Hour: FIGHTING BACK   June 21, 1999

BETTY ANN BOWSER: When Elodia Blanco first walked though this New Orleans neighborhood 19 years ago, she saw a good place to raise her family. The streets were safe, the neighbors friendly, and the children had lots of places to play.

ELODIA BLANCO: And we were very excited, thinking that this would be a nice home-- four bedrooms, the lot was large, 160 by 100, you know, lots of space, and thought it was a decent community to live in.

BETTY ANN BOWSER: But the neighborhood looks different today. Signs of trouble are everywhere, trouble that began when residents discovered that their new homes had been built atop the city's 50-year-old dump.

ELODIA BLANCO: When you tried to plant a garden or tried to grow grass, it was a nightmare. There was everything from bones to truck tires to bottle glass to -- I mean, within -

BETTY ANN BOWSER: In your back yard?

ELODIA BLANCO: In the back yard, the side yard, the front yard. Everywhere you dug, it was just debris. [snip]

ELODIA BLANCO: I'm begging you all today to do whatever is possible. Temporary relocation is not an option. That's not an option. We need permanent relocation.

There was some shooting. But my question for the Times-Picayune is, how about the corruption in NO and LA, Amoss, is that an urban legend, too?

How fortuitous that our firend, Michael Chertoff, is the director of Homeland Security. He of Whitewater Committee fame. ;-)

If anyone can track down criminals, cooked books and shady dems, it will be Mr. Chertoff.

And they played the 'demotion' and 'resignation' of Micael Brown perfectly. No wonder the dem leadership is boycotting Bush's suggesiton for bipartisan hearings... they know what bombshells are waiting to be uncovered.

Hope Ms. Landrieau has a good retirement plan ready to go. lol

Here's a tip: buy stock in popcorn shares. We're going to have quite a year for investigations and hearings, I'm guessing.

I was expecting to see a thread. I heard Snow's news when I was in the car yesterday.

When I searched this morning and didn't find more than the Tony Snow thread, I got right to it.

I once worked in a warehouse on an Army base, as a civilian laborer, unloading trucks. There were about 3 or 4 of us. After a couple of weeks being unable to keep up with the rate at which trucks arrived, we complained to the supervisor and told him to hire more workers. He said "what are you talking about -- there's already 15 guys assigned."

Uh oh.

This led to an investigation that revealed that there were several workers who only came in every two weeks to pick up the pay check and fraudently fill out their time card for the next two weeks.

It happens.

I used the wayback machine at www.archive.org and came up with these pages from 2004. Not perfect, but, well, better than nothing!

So are we to assume that the entire story about desserting police officers was concocted to make it appear that there really were 1500 officers but 500 ran and can't be traced, so they were working with an undersized force which would make it hard to control all the violent crime, which also turned out not to exist?

Thanks!

From your LINK.

***...."To get that number over 1500, and thus qualify for federal funding, Compass and his predecessors counted reservists and certain retirees as active duty officers. The REAL number is, and has been for some time, a lot closer to 1000."

Some time ago, the Feds were considering taking over the NOPD. Allegedly, that's when the "cooking of the books" on numbers of cops started in earnest, because one of the feds' complaints was the low number of officers, Rogers is told.

Some suspect that this should be the death knell for the" residency rule," which requires NOPD officers to live in New Orleans....***

Thanks, good info!

QUESTIONS SURFACE IN WAKE OF COMPASS' RESIGNATION
SEPTEMBER 28, 2005

Eddie Compass has resigned as the New Orleans Police chief, the Associated Press Reports.

On the heels of N.O. police chief Eddie Compass' resignation, allegations are emerging. Fox News' Tony Snow has said that of the 1700 police working for New Orleans, maybe only 1000 really exist.

Rogers asked someone in the know, who agreed with Snow's statements.

"It's pretty much always been known, but never openly acknowledged, that NOPD's actual numbers were far below the "official" figure of 1500 - 1700," said the source.

"To get that number over 1500, and thus qualify for federal funding, Compass and his predecessors counted reservists and certain retirees as active duty officers.
