Sorry, haven't had much sleep in the last five days. Really pissed about what has happened here in Houston the last week. When the real story comes out,people are gonna be shocked. I am in one of the flood zone areas and was " ordered " to evacuate but refused to do so because I knew by wed. where the storm was going and realized I was in no actual danger. Our Mayor, Bill White, is a f**king Bolshevik who likes to impose his will on the citizenry. This latest programme of his will get worse as the next 3 or 4 days play out and more people die on the road trying to get home.
From what I've read and heard, a mandatory evacuation order in Texas is a CYA for officials. They are under no obligation to save you when it gets bad. The governor was surprised by how many people that actually followed the order to evacuate.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't, evacuate their citizens.
Oh, no worries! I just wanted to be sure you understood I didn't write that is all. I've been posting a lot of info for local FReepers from local bloggers and news sites over both the Katrina and Rita threads. I get lazy sometimes and forget the links or a disclaimer "continued", "local blog info", etc. Sorry for the confusion. :o)
My husband thinks what happened with Rita will make the next hurricane to head your way a true disaster: noone will evacuate (it's only a 3, etc), and it won't veer off course. I pray that doesn't happen... it would be truly terrible.
