Do you know how close that is to Hwy 61 and 42? That's the area where my brothers live.

That stream is about six miles from your brothers, and I think the area around your brothers' place is drained through other streams that flow into Bayou Manchac. The nearest monitoring location that I can find is Bayou Manchac near Little Prairie. I think I've actually kayaked past this station, but it doesn't appear to be working now. The downstream stations on the Amite River are showing levels that aren't too bad right now. I'm not a hydrologist, but I'd assume that things are still draining well at your brothers' place.

Just got off the phone with one brother. So far, so good. He says they are in a good spot and things are draining pretty well right now. Thanks for the information.

We lost power about 1/2 ago. I stumbled outside in the dark and powered up the generator, ran the various extension cords, cursing under my breath, and when I was finished, after 20 minutes of work, the power came back on. It is flickering off/on every couple of minutes so I do not think it will last too long. < p>

All of you who are not electrically challenged -- be thankful.
