Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

Pardon me butting in.
Eaker & Company have a flawless record of gun safety and familiarity.
Any parody pix or tomfoolery involving weapons you can be sure were performed
in the safest manner and each
participant could easily smoke your buns on the range.
We thank you for your opinion.
Ed Rappaport on Fox news now saying Rita will continue to weaken. You have to be kidding me, has he looked at the current Dorvak #s, the pressures leveling off, if not dropping some, cold cloud tops wrapping around the center again. At least mention the possibility that she could maintain her strength to the coast. Its irresponsible to say its weakening when anyone can clearly see that currently (that's not to say it won't later weaken) it is maintaining its strength if not getting better organized.
Other people think Ed is quite competent and may be right. I do wonder if he's seen the latest data, however.
Yep! Desperately need it, that's for sure!
I'd have to agree with some other posters about not getting complacent about this. Hurricanes have been known to move VERY unpredictably as they slide into the cup of the Gulf Coast.
I've seen them turn left, stop, and sometimes even make a loop and THEN hit shore.
Until it's here, we really can't know.
Thanks, that's it. CNN has a cadre of very mature, good reporters. Unfortunately...
"She's asking for pay for Fire, Police, etc? "
As far as I can tell She did not have a penny saved for an event like this.
Your comment seconded!
You get to high ground OK?
Then Godspeed to you. Stay safe and stay armed.
Hi there! Glad your folks are sittin' tight and prepared. Hehehe... we've got plenty of Bluebell here in Valley Mills too. :-)
You let me know if your mom and dad need checking on or anything. It can happen.
Be sure to take pictures I need a laugh
I watch Fox because of Brit Hume, O'Reilly (bombastic and often uninformed, but doesn't throw softballs to libs), Hannity (coz he gets topics out into the MSM that would otherwise be ignored), Carl Cameron, Jim Angle, Brian Wilson, and the guy with the reddish puffy hair (brain cramp, can't remember his name). I've never been much impressed with their field reporters.
..and from S2K... eye is clear again.
Oh my gosh! You poor things!
You have my sympathy! This ain't NO time to be without AC!
Let her babble on...give her lots of microphones and much press coverage.
After all, the radicals who decided that they would attack GWB over Katrina did so by claiming that Gov Blanco was somehow competent...something that her own words betray (as do the actions of the Florida and Alabama governments that fielded Katrina with narry a hiccup even though Alabama was hit by the more powerful East side of that storm).
THey did have evacuation in waves, they DIDN'T tell 4 million people to just get up and go.
People didn't wait for their turn. It made things miserable for everybody, except those who decided to wait until this morning.
I am sad to say, that the Bush "I take the blame" speech opened the floodgates for the Feds to pay for everything. compassion is now measured by how many different things the Feds can pay for in Louisiana. so they are asking for everything under the sun - including mosquito spraying. and they will likely get it.
You go man, anything family and I can do for you just ask, anytime. Will have a housefull of relatives and pets tonight and as squantos would say, stay armed, stay safe and oh yeah, keep your powder dry!!
She's in over her head. I will NOT BE SURPRISED if she has a breakdown by the time this is over.
well I am glad to hear that. You don't have to tell me to "back off'. I was just making a comment. All in all, I am glad to know he's prepared to protect himself and I am also happy to see he has allowed his children to learn about guns and shoot them.
Your just talking to someone that asked a question because even though I own a gun.. I am not a "shooter" and take the small lessons my father-in-law has taught me to heart.
However, I did not grow up around guns like my hubby did so perhaps what your seeing from me is ignorance and I think I'm allowed to ask. In no way am I judging Eaker or trying to pick a fight.. just trying to understand.
Thanks!
Dunno--I've been channel-surfing for news elsewhere since Shep popped up with his hat on backwards...
It all went to kickbacks.
