Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

I love Shep, I really do. His makeup doesn't bother me, I like his smartass style. But...

Tonight he has done the unforgivable. I STG, the man is wearing WHITE SOCKS WITH BLACK SANDALS!!! Somebody please tell me I am wrong! At least Jerry gets the fashions right (what hat is he wearing tonight? :) )

No harm taken = no harm done.

I just plain didn't know how to interpret Sender's comments.

I guess I'm a little too sensitive in light that I've had to FIGHT for just about everything I've said respecting technical matters (and prognostications) and what not.

SENDER: Dude, my appologies if I hurt your feelings.

I'm off for a hurricane nap, Y'all.

Flyer has my back should Sugar Land have some trouble.

Thanks, Flyer.

No idea on where that bridge is. I more semi-heard that report (bouncing a heap of windows including the KPLC feed and TWC, and was concentrating on another window at the time).

10 pm advisory coming up shortly.

And both could barely stand. I would pay $1.00 to see a replay of Shep falling down trying to hold on to his hat.

Now he has his hat back. ANd away it goes again.

Here in GA, the governor already cancelled all schools Monday and Tuesday to conserve energy. I bet more fuel gets used with all the kids being ferried around to the movies and lunch.

If it misses the refineries, it will be a big blessing though.

has introduced a bill asking for $250 BILLION to rebuild ALL of NO. She is completely ignoring the fact that we've already pouring big money (no telling how much at this date) plus the billions proposed by President Bush plus all the $$ and contributions and volunteers that have given their services and $$ to this mud hole.

Mary is also ignoring he fact that LA wasn't the only state that was hit by this storm

IMO ... the State of Lousianna is broke and can't bail their bills and THAT is the reason why she is asking for the full 250 Billion

I can't watch anymore. I've had just enough wine that Shep and Geraldo are beginning to resemble Keystone cops to me. And Geraldo keeps mangling the names of cities and landmarks.

The atmosphere here feels very strange though. It's turned still, and extremely muggy. The temperature right now is 92. Way too warm for this time of night.
