Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

holy cow
They said a tire caught on fire and sparked the oxygen... Wasn't the driver changing the tire?
Happy to hear that the river is cooperating for the time being. But I wonder how the it will look after 5 straight days of rain -- which is predicted.
At least the grass will be happy.
If this thing keeps "wobbling" north, then we may get more than we bargained for.
Rut roh.
my hero :-) Thanks
Hey, she burped!
I was a little nervous, being chided about my computer hygiene.
USGS Update @ 10:10 am PDT - Today is the first-year anniversary of the seismic unrest that culminated in the extrusion of the new lava dome beginning in mid-October 2004. In honor of this occasion, the volcano is sporting a handsome vapor plume this morning and is continuing to build the dome. The dome is now more than three-quarters of the volume of the dome that grew episodically between 1980 and 1986. We wait enthusiastically to see what St. Helens has in mind for year two.
Love that last sentence.
No way! She is stuck on stoopid, fer sure.
Hey, if you want one more thing to worry about, a lady at work today said her daughter in Tennessee said that they are beginning to warn folks there to get Earthquake insurance because all of the flooding and stuff from this season could set off the New Madrid fault!
So are you saying that all the people who reported the brakes being on fire are being paid off to protect a smoker?
If anyone finds a clip of the survivor of the bus crash - please post it. I would love to see the ole codger sticking it to the press.

I would be happy to. The radio just announced a tornado warning for Ascension and surrounding parishes until 6PM. This is the third one so far today.
It works completely differently for me, when I stop to get beer my interest in fishing goes up. Jeff Foxworthy was wrong, there is no such thing as "being too drunk to fish"
He keeps getting worse. He is not that good on delivery and misreads the prompter constantly. He's a leftist, thinks he's an expert on hurricanes and, now, I guess evacuations.
The best part of the coverage is the weather people. At least they have some credentials.
Shep is an idiot
I see Rita Cosby washed ashore...
Possibly a brake fire that caused the flat in the first place, would be my best guess.
