I haven't gone thru all 900+ posts, but everyone should be aware of the potential
massive flooding that will probably happen all over East Texas and La because the 5 Day Tracking models show Rita
STALLING over North Eastern Texas for
DAYS! See:
5 Day Track Models.
The long term flooding could be as bad as Alicia was over the eastern US several years ago.

"How in the world can she justify that request? Is she a complete idiot?"She can't and she DOES sound like an idiot. NO is only one place out of an affected area the size of a country. Four states were affected by Katrina, only LA screwed up and all we ever hear about is "po' po' little NO". I'm SICK of it.
If they want to rebuild their stupid, stinking city let THEM work for it. The federal government shouldn't because the country is better off WITHOUT it.

He was supposed to go to Ft. Sam Houston to meet with emergency teams prior to their deployment. They are already being moved out and repositioned, so there is no one there for him to meeet with.
Personally, I would like to see him go to Crawford and set up a command and control site and force all of the reporters to stand out in the rain.
And I think Dan Rather should finish his career by reporting, lashed to a telephone pole in Galveston.

"I don't think Eaker has to worry about this hurricane at least. I think he can Shoot his way out."
Reminds me of the film "Key Largo," where Humphrey Bogart taunts gangster Johnny Rocco (Edward G. Robinson) who appears frightened by an approaching hurricane: "Worried about the storm, Rocco? Why don't you shoot it." Rocco: "Shut up, soldier." Or something like that . . .

I heard that too.
This is a nightmare.

Not sure what to believe anymore. Thank goodness for FR!
Listening to the TV/radio gets confusing since no one seems to report exactly the same information.
My totally uneducated guess is she's going to take a deep breath and run along the bottom of Louisiana's boot to land dead center between Galveston & Port Aurthur.
(I may be wrong, but I figure it's a good a guess as some of these yahoo's on TV I've heard :)

There are five of us around here. But, it seems like the rest of the neighborhood has pretty much evacuated. One of the guys here has contact with a Port Neches policeman.
To: Miss Marple
Didn't you mean to add, and then set the pole out bobbing in Galveston Bay?

Our Governor, Sonny Purdeue, just announced that Georgia will close schools statewide on Monday and Tuesday in order to conserve gas.
He is trying to go on the offense against what happened after Katrina and GA had a gas shortage and panic with prices spiking at $6.
