Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

Good analogy!

BTW - I am starting to see a few blustery gusts of wind in Dallas. My flag is fluttering for the first time in ages!

I've reached the point where I never want to hear the words "New Orleans" or "Louisiana" again -- and I doubt that I'm alone in that feeling.

Ditto.....and I live here.

You can do whatever you want. My warning is for those who might see the pictures and think to replicate them.

You shouldn't take any offense. You look like you are having a good time. And it was funny.

But almost every story about some kid shooting his brother or sister or friend starts with having fun, goofing off, "I saw it on TV", etc..

The warning is for people who do NOT understand, not for those who do.

Two weeks ago there was a story about a police cadet who was killed by an instructor. Never heard the details. Guns are not toys, and it never hurts to remind readers of that fact.

But feel free to ask the admins to delete my post, the button is there and I won't take offense.

Stay safe. Be on the lookout for a storm surge. Most of the town is under 16 feet in elevation, as best I can tell.

Take another close look at Eakers pic. The weapons are obviously pointed away from the person.
Although I agree with your never point weapons at things you are not going to shoot.

Good idea!

In all seriousness, what can be done when we taxpayers have to cough up dollars to keep an incompetent/corrupt government going? Does the law/constitution offer us any redress?

i'd be happy to be proven wrong - but it won't happen. the federal government will spend a massive amount of money on Louisiana, alot of it for things they shouldn't be paying for.
