I don't know why they are using the word "explode". From what I see in TV the bus is burned but not blown up.

It appears to have been a charter bus of elderly evacuees from Houston... there have been reports of two explosions and then it erupted into flames. I-45 into Dallas is completely shut down and the back-up now goes 17 to 20 miles.
Multiple deaths reported.

Dramatic affect. The same reason the term AK47 or "Military style assault rifle or semi-automatic machine gun is used for rifles that clearly are not.

Because "explode" is more sensationalist.

I don't know why they are using the word "explode". From what I see in TV the bus is burned but not blown up. Later reports are surfacing, and they are saying some witnesses say there were explosions. Also read another article that stated some of those burned to death were also decapitated. I don't know what would cause this in this case, but an explosion would certainly be something to look at.
