It was announced on the radio yesterday, Wednesday, (I'm in eastern Florida) that hundreds of calls came into the radio station and police dept. the night before about a ball of fire near Jacksonville. "Authorities" said it was either a meteor or falling space debris.

Damn, I live in PHX and just went for a long walk at about 8:20.
But, I have seen launches before, with a bizzare glowing exhaust trail.

It was announced on the news the rocket launch in southern CA would be around 7:20-7:40 PM. Here in western AZ on the Colorado River we had a nice view of it, rather spectacular.
