The neighbors here from Texas are great. Did you have the campground on Teller #1 by a housing development? ...me, too, on melting. After too many field training exercises (Army National Guard) in hot places, one wants to be where it is cool and dry. We have a place in South Park and love it there.
Do you remember that big snow we had...maybe, what, a couple of years ago? I drove through 4 1/2 feet of it (modified 4WD) to do some work at a lot (sold now) in the higher part of a development on the west side of Pikes Peak. It's nice to drive when no one else is on the roads.
Yes, I did have a place on Teller #1. I also had Trout Haven on Twin Rock Road for a couple years.
That snow storm brings back some memories. I had invited my girlfriend and her daughter up to go fishing as the weather had been kind of nice. It started snowing hard so we decided to go to the back of the property and go sledding and have a cookout on a bonfire instead of fishing. It was coming down so hard that the campfire was three or four feet down in the snow and smores would freeze before you could eat them. We had no idea that people were dieing all over the place in that storm, we were just playing in the snow. I would say that you were lucky to get off Pikes Peak before spring thaw.
