Do you remember that big snow we had...maybe, what, a couple of years ago? I drove through 4 1/2 feet of it

Yes, I did have a place on Teller #1. I also had Trout Haven on Twin Rock Road for a couple years.

That snow storm brings back some memories. I had invited my girlfriend and her daughter up to go fishing as the weather had been kind of nice. It started snowing hard so we decided to go to the back of the property and go sledding and have a cookout on a bonfire instead of fishing. It was coming down so hard that the campfire was three or four feet down in the snow and smores would freeze before you could eat them. We had no idea that people were dieing all over the place in that storm, we were just playing in the snow. I would say that you were lucky to get off Pikes Peak before spring thaw.

Cookouts on the Range during snows must seem sardonic to people who haven't done it. LOL! ...beats cooking out between fire bans and vigilance for bear in the summer, though.

We weren't above the tree line. The driving (up to about 9200 ft. in CCME, where snow was about a foot deeper than the bottom of the same development) was easy enough with our work truck's lifted suspension, oversized offroad tires, lockers and chains on all fours. It's also good for getting closer to peaks for backcountry snowboarding. We keep a smaller 4WD for good gas mileage with smaller loads and nicer weather.

Life up here is really good for all who wear good boots (loose, rated -65F or lower, and available in Castlerock for cheap), water resistant clothes and keep a couple of cases of those handwarmers and footwarmers (small packets of sawdust, iron filings and whatever else is in them) on board. ;-)
