As many as 500,000 people in southwestern Louisiana, many of them already displaced by Hurricane Katrina, were told to evacuate Thursday as Hurricane Rita headed for a forecast landfall near the Texas state line.

Isn't this a little late to call a evac there? Corpus Called an evac when it was on the southern edge of the cone. Louisiana has always been in the northern edge of that cone of uncertainty. Louisiana is what about 18hrs behind Texas on this?
