Infuriating isn't it.

The MSM gets it both ways as usual. They can stir the passions of the PREVIOUS victims by stating such nonsense as "BUSH learned his lesson" or "This is Texas, so HE CARES more".

On the other hand if ANYTHING goes wrong they can continue their attack on an inept Bush and his administration.

As General Honore says, they are "STUCK ON STUPID".

bttt. We had some more rain over here in Tampa Bay this evening, not too much. Rita's heading north of Corpus Cristi per Neal Falgoust who is talking to Greta On the Record.

The main airport in Houston is named after Bush #41, hence the reference to "Bush screeners"...but he should have explained that.

The Advisory was first (and while I was grabbing a drink, no less :-)

Winds are down another 5 mph, but it's still a Cat 4, and hurricane-force winds extend out another 20 miles than they did the last advisory.

Rant away - I'm guessing CNN didn't bother to point out that only half the population of NOLA evacuated and the evac rate here is appropaching 90% -- with lots more people involved.

I don't think so.......but you can take some of the back routes thru The Woodlands and miss a lot of it.

Weakens a little more. Hope that continues to be the trend.

I went to that site and found this - humor is well needed right about now. :o)

M0 Tornado - Cows in an open field are spun around parallel to the wind flow and become mildly annoyed.
M1 Tornado - Cows are tipped over and can't get up.
M2 Tornado - Cows begin rolling with the wind.
M3 Tornado - Cows tumble and bounce.
M4 Tornado - Cows are airborne.
M5 Tornado - STEAK!

There seems to me, to be a serious bug in the program that generates these "probability" displays.

Most certainly, the C column here is totally wrong, and the "1" actually means 100%. The D column is wrong, too. Other strike areas that are dead center of this track show the same false report. I really wouldn't trust this data as being real meaningful.

Wobbling back towards the 1700 projection. 3.99 miles SW per the 2200 position, down from 6.9 half an hour ago.

Don't know Houston well enough to know where the pictures are taken or what the contra situation is where they are.

There are still folks coming in, maybe going home, etc. Remember there is not a total evacuation.

“Aaron Brown running down the TX folks for not having fuel prepositioned for these poor folks trying to evac.”

I do not like him.  I remember the night before we started bombing Baghdad he said to presidential candidate Clark in a very depressed tone “this time tomorrow we will be at war”.  He drives me crazy.

The MSM have all been horrible thru the whole Katrina mess...

I give it about 2 days until we see Shep and Geraldo crying out "Why are all these people here? Why is there no cold Heineken? Is anyone seeing this right now?"

I didn't get a chance to reply on the last thread. Stay safe and dry! And I hardly think southerners are "simple". I would probably fit right in* with some rural southerners, even though I live a long ways away. Always wished I'd gotten to spend more time in NO and some other places.

*with some minor/major accommodation to spoken language.

Back toward Galveston.

Sounds like a landfall between Galveston and Port Arthur.
