WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Republican chairman of the Senate judiciary committee accused the Pentagon on Wednesday of stonewalling an inquiry into claims that the U.S. military identified four September 11 hijackers more than a year before the 2001 attacks.

I knew they would focus on the Pentagon blocking the witnesses instead of mentioning that the data was deleted back in May / June of 2000.

That's fine. They need to keep pushing very hard for ALL of the truth to come out.

That's my view. The blocking of the witnesses is the story now. If we can get the witnesses unblocked, the whole dam may break. otherwise, it seems like the dam may hold.

It still doesn't matter. Why is Rumsfeld not outing the guilty parties.

Something is indeed strange here. Politically, Rumsfeld and pals should want the RATS to be outed for what they did to our security.

"Besides Curt Weldon, the two biggest advocates for opening this can of worms are Joe Biden (D) and Arlen Specter (Rino).

We need to contact their offices and encourage them to shine a light on the truth!"

Correct. Phone calls are the way to make contact. that is what they overwhelmingly pay attention to (as opposed to the e-mails or letters).

When you call, don't expect to be talking to some seasoned customer service type person. Be nice. It's more like talking to an ordinary person.

Below is a list of all Senate Judiciary committee members, phone and fax. that is Spector's committee, doing the hearing. In general, senators pay much more attention to calls from people in their own states. So, if you are from one of the states listed below, you might focus on that Senator.

Sen. Orrin Hatch

Washington, DC 20510
Phone: (202) 224-5251
Fax: (202) 224-6331

Sen. Chuck Grassley
135 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510-1501
Phone: (202) 224-3744
Fax: 202-228-0544

Sen. Jon Kyl
730 Hart Senate Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
Phone: (202) 224-4521
Fax: (202) 224-2207

Sen. Mike DeWine
140 Russell Senate Building
Washington, DC 20510
Phone: (202) 224-2315
Fax: (202) 224-6519
TDD: (202) 224-9921

Sen. Lindsey Graham
290 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Phone: (202) 224-5972

Sen. Larry Craig
United States Senate
Washington, DC 20510-1203

Fax: (202) 228-1067

Sen. Saxby Chambliss

Washington, DC 20510
Phone: 202-224-3521

Sen. John Cornyn

It says in the article that the Pentagon is hesitant to have these guys testify in an open hearing.

Could be BS. Could be accurate.

I'm still more concerned with how the media is trying to make this the issue instead of the fact that someone ordered the data to be deleted in May or June of 2000.

I just checked Rushlimbaug.com to see what Rush had to say about yesterdays events.Nothing that I can find.
Whats up with that? I do want to know why Rumsfelds Pentagon is blocking the testimony. This is about our security not party loyalty.
I don`t understand why Rush has not talked about this today.

Rummy asked for closed hearings due to security concerns, he was denied.

I caught a lot of the hearing on CSpan 3 last nite.

My recollection won't be perfect, and there should be better reports than what I took away from the hearing but here goes:

  1. Curt Weldon testified before the committee.
  2. a lawyer specializing in security clearance cases testifed on behalf of his clients - one a military officer who had been ordered not to testify and the other a civilian employee of a contractor, whom the lawyer counseled not to testify at this time. Both his clients were in the hearing room, in the audience.
  3. Chairman Spector had only one other Senator in the hearing - Kyle, I believe. The two of them seemed serious, and to take the situation seriously. Spector was wondering if posse commitatis was the cause of the purging of the files.
  4. There was another witness who spoke from limited first-person knowledge - but when asked if other witnesses could be relied on if in fact they gave pro-Weldon testimony, he unhesitatingly affirmed that.
Basically it was a small hearing, but it kept the ball in play.

Maybe Rumsfeld doesn't want to be accused of leaking classified information. He's no dummy, if there is something there than needs to get let out he'll make sure someone poking their sticks at this hits a weak spot.

"Below is a list of all Senate Judiciary committee members, phone and fax."

Your list falls short of "all" 18 members of the committee. Ten Republicans, 8 democrats.

Mine being a democrat, would nevertheless be helpful to find that number, if your intention was to save us lookup time.

I'm glad you said what you did. I feel the same way --- "Your reference to Rumsfeld ---- He's no dummy, if there is something there than needs to get let out he'll make sure someone poking their sticks at this hits a weak spot.

There is something to this and I'm willing to wait patiently. I have faith in Rumsfeld and President Bush. Even tho they seem to be courting clinton.
