Extremely dangerous and large Category Five Hurricane Rita is churning westward across the Gulf of Mexico toward Texas. Air Force Reconnaissance indicated the central pressure has dropped to 904mb, making Rita the fifth most intense hurricane ever in the Atlantic Basin.
Hurricane and Tropical Storm Watches have been issued from Northern Mexico through the South Louisiana coastline. Galveston TX used school buses to evacuate residents. Mandatory and voluntary evacuations are in effect along the Texas coastline.

Geesh. I just got home from work. Kat5?! Be safe Dog Gone. Would be safer at hospital since help would arrive there quicker after 'cane passes.

Prayers for a safe trip. If you have internet access at your destination, please check in when you can.
I have a feeling our drought is going to end in one day.
OMG, I had no idea you'd have to leave, too!
I will keep you in my prayers!
stike TWO!!!
Speaking of safe trip, that plane in LA made an absolutely perfect landing!
p.s. Pilot just landed the Jet Blue plane safely
Perfect landing for the Jet Blue plane...
Thank God...
I had to call my son, who is a pilot and flight instructor to find out what he thought of the situation...he said, "Ah, Mom, this will be fine,...these landings are easier than you think!"....
Sure enough, it landed like he said.!
Remember this, people: Gridlock is what it may look like, but this storm is 2 days out. Traffic might move slow, but it moves. In 2 days you WILL be out of there, should you decide to get out NOW.
"I don't like mayonnaise. There, now let's see what that one does. (Probably outrage from somebody whose son works in a Hellmann's factory.)"
I can't stand mayo. It makes me so mad.

""What's with all this damn IRRELEVANT arguing on this thread?""
Low pressure systems tend to make children cranky. ;)
Then follow the official recommendation. However, please do try to dig up some flood-probability maps. They seem to be out there on the internet. If you are in a high-risk zone, GIT.
Thanks for the update, i guess the nose gear snapped into place. I bet the people riding are happy.
