IIRC the state has taken down the hotel taxes for the duration of the storm - if you're booking online, be sure to check with the hotel and the website customer service line to ensure that you're not paying too much.

Most TX hotels are offering deep discounts for Gulf Coast evacuees, per the local news. Make sure you mention that, it can drop the price by as much as 75%!
