The Orleans Parish school system has been failing for a LONG time. The best thing that has happened to it has been the flood. The kids are no longer trapped in those failing schools.

You have just suggested a very interesting research project. It is this: How well were the New Orleans schools students doing in their home schools? Conpare that to how well the exact same students do *under stressful personal circumstances) in various kinds of other schools around the nation.

If, as I suspect, these students do BETTER elsewhere, regardless of their traumatic personal circumstances, than this will be rock solid proof, if more be needed, that the NO schools are a waste of educational time and money.
