Yup, as comedian Ron White said, "it's not that the wind is blowin'....it's WHAT the wind is blowin'"

Cindy, it's to prevent an explosion due to a gas leak (if it were to fall over).

Out here in CA., we're told to do the same thing.

Something else...secure large furniture to the walls. IF you have massive flooding...think of your china hutch with Gramma's china handed down to you...

Can anyone give me any info, news, etc. about how folks in Conroe, Texas may be affected by Rita if it stays on its current projected path?. We have some friends that live there that are not experienced with hurricanes - at all. I see that Conroe is north of Houston, but I don't have a good idea of what level of wind and rain damage they may experience. Any info/thoughts would be appreciated. - OB1

Bookmarking.

Glad that our Florida FReepers are pretty much in the clear now.

Praying for our Texas FReepers. According to that predictor, Brendan Loy, Texas will be hit hard.

Tornado warning box now on for Key Largo area.

Middle to upper Keys are due for some heavy stuff from that band.

Anyone have an idea what the temps were in the Gulf that facilitated Hurricane Gilbert? The pressure on that storm was very very low. I think lowest in recorded history. Could similar thing happen with Rita? What would prevent it with Rita?

CindyDawg, my apologies. You must have wondered what I was talking about.

It's Whyisa's yard I was going to pee on (to save water, for goodness sakes!)
