Ah, but the Cowardly Lion was really brave . . . he just didn't think he was.

Conversely, Specter THINKS he's brave, but isn't.

Bert Lahr was a whole lot funnier, anyhow.

You. We won't know how Roberts is going to be as a judge until he retires...... and for you to sit here and proclaim if he HE DOESNT do yada yada in three years I'll do such in such....makes you a hand wringer.

With Arlen's support - he'll be King of the Hill.
and with Lindsey ( I'll show John Edwards how to be a VP candidate ) Graham on his side - what can go wrong?

In addition to that hair trigger, I see you also have a comprehension problem. I suggest you re-read my post. Here's what I said: "However, I'll withhold judgment for now. Lets wait until we have some history, say in a year or two. By then, we will know one way or the other."

See the difference?

Yep. It's already too late. President Bush gets to pick. He gets to pick the next, and maybe the next after that.

Let the moaning and wailing continue.

I'd evacuate this here New Orleans, but them there buses ain't come.

You have a good sense of humor. Rare on the political threads.

I like that.

The fact that it's great good news that a Republican senator agrees to support a mildly conservative nominee to replace a mildly conservative justice says worlds about how the Senate GOP really works and what it believes.

I'm not speaking of Roberts. My comment was directed at Spector. A RINOcrat, a liberal. If he likes you, then for some reason I think I shouldn't. You have your opinion and I have mine. I'll stick with mine. You do as you please. One of those freedoms I served for.

I found out a long time ago that if I didn't laugh I would cry. Being a political junkie for over 40 years I have found that the laughter has kept me more, or less, sane. That and not forgetting a lesson my dear old dad taught me when I was young.

He said "Son, don't be worrying about things you have no control over, worry about those things you do".

So I laugh at times. Get really pissed at times. And keep my guns cleaned and oiled. ;)

Very hard advice to follow for most of us, but no question it is good advice.

"So I laugh at times. Get really pissed at times. And keep my guns cleaned and oiled. ;)"

More good advice.

It really holds him in a bind. Giving him the chairmanship wasn't a terrible thing. It holds him to support nominees he otherwise wouldn't.

Just remember one thing. I'm a moderate and I love Roberts. He seems to have the judicial temperment that any moderate could appreciate. He seems to use the same logic, doesn't fall for dogma or taking of sides.

Agreed. Specter is about one thing. PROMOTING SPECTER. He nearly lost the chairmanship by opening his mouth too much. He probably had to promise to promote all judges and vote for the "Constitutional Option". He has 4 years left in the Senate. Unless he wants to lose the chairmanship he will promote whoever Bush puts up.

I'm a little right of Attila the Hun and I think Judge Roberts will be just fine.

The squeals, both left and right, are interesting to witness, but hardly worth their effort.

The fact is, like the sun rising in the morning, Judge Roberts will be confirmed. We, all of us, will deal with it.
