Can I come stay with you then? ;-)
I'm quite sick with a brain tumor and have no experience with hurricanes, and neither does my husband. I don't know if I should send him out to prepare tomorrow, or if we should make arrangements to get out of here. I'm not well enough for lengthy travel right now.
I'm really not sure what I should do.

Don't know if this helps much, but you might as well read it just to be prepared.
It's from the Red Cross and talks about the evacuation routes out of Gavelston/Houston.

You are close enough to be concerned. Do you have a generator? Get plenty of batteries, water, canned food. When I first moved to Houston, I got there just in time to get prepared for a hurricane. It didn't cause any problems, but I was ready if it did.
Now I am further north, but anything in the Gulf can cause tornadoes, etc. It never hurts to have those preparations made - which I do.
Prayers for your health.

One thing I might do if I were you is call your oncologist to get information about how they plan on handling things if y'all took a direct hit. It would be one less thing you'd have to think about doing just in case. Plus you'd have that info for any future hurricanes.
