From a transcript of a news conference given today by Curt Weldon, he said: The first week the story broke in the New York Times, I was in Pennsylvania that Friday doing district work and I got a call at my office. My chief of staff took the call, and it was from a person Id never met in my entire life. Id never mentioned her name. She was on vacation and asked my chief of staff for me to call her back.
Her name was Jamie Gorelick.
Wow. Read the whole thing.

Your post triggered something in my memory, wasn't there a huge fuss about collecting data by the pentagon after 9/11?
Just on her word, we are suppose to believe she did nothing wrong. Get her under oath.
^
Andy,
Many thanks for the transcript!
Clinton must be afraid of the Able Danger testimony this week. That is why he is attacking Bush now so he can change the subject back to Bush this week instead of Himself when the truth comes out.I hope it is televised.
Quite interesting to review what folks where commenting on back five years ago on the appointment. Obviously the speculations are now a reality. Cover ups in quantities perhaps never before witnessed within the Beltway. Thanks.
"It would be nice if we could get the MSM in this country to cover it LIVE!!!!"
Yeah it would. However, I have long accepted that the MSM is our adversary. What I keep thinking about is if there was some way we freepers could get the word out a little better. I would like to see an ongoing DVD production group associated with FR. for example, I was encouraging SuzyQ to make a DVD incorporating video about the recent anti-Cindy demonstration that FR played such a big part in. she asked me if I knew anything about video capture, and I had to admit that I don't. I have a feeling she may have gotten discouraged there. Really, the least we could do as a web site is have a go to person for video capture questions.
I feel FR and has tremendous strength vis-à-vis demonstrations, but vis a vis DVDs I think we should be stronger. It's very cool to have a big demonstration but we know the MS will ignore it. So we need to get the images and sounds out to the people ourselves. cCompared to the volunteer hours and money expended on sending setting up the anti-Cindy demonstration, the amount we would've needed to expand to create DVD would have been tiny. Yet, we would've multiplied the yield on the demonstration.
Welcome aboard. Hope your visits are both informative and pleasant. Do view the rules of the road prior to posting. No use being flamed if it can be prevented.
FYI Didn't see your names on the thread and didn't think you would want to miss this one.....SOme VERY interesting facts.
The first thing that I thought when I saw "Clinton Turns on Bush" was that Clinton was warning Bush this would be just the beginning if Able Danger was pursued.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bush and Clinton had made a deal that Bush would bury the hatchet on Clinton's pre-9/11 terrorist inadequacies and Clinton would support the current war on terror without much Carteresque badmouthing in exchange.
If Able Danger is pursued, expect that deal to be null and void.
The test of my theory will be to see how caustic Clinton becomes toward Bush as the hearings unfold.
PING Something is going on a LOT bigger than the corruption in LA....May be the answer to your question.
There's definitely more to Clinton's outburst than meets the eye....
That little tidbit from Weldon about Jamie Gorelick calling him to tell him she's done nothing wrong (Able Danger) REALLY has me wondering...
I don't think that Clinton has done that great of a job NOT critisizing Bush's war in Iraq....but, I know what you mean.
It seems that he picked this Sunday to expound on his negativity toward President Bush is quite a few areas....nice of him, huh?
I guess his ego was stroked so much this last weekend by the rich and famous, that he feels invincible again....maybe NOW is the time for Weldon and gang to spring the trap...SNAP!!!!!
I am just praying that this is a "sting" by President Bush..like someone hinted at regarding the way he has been handling the dems and press re: Hurricane Katrina...and the corruption hiding under all that rubble in NO. and other parts of LA.
She is a pal of Hillary's, so I can't imagine she'd spill the beans. She must know she's up sh$t's creek without a paddle if she is calling Weldon pleading innocence!
She probably pulled that same trick with the 9/11 Commission when Ashcroft exposed 'the wall" when he was testifying.
Unfortunately, the committee let her get away with it. I don't think Weldon will be so forgiving.
Thanks so much for pinging me here...I hadn't seen this thread...
Although my head spins sometimes, I am fascinated by this story...and rubbing my hands together in anticipation of the hearings about this..
I really hope that the Clintons get their just desserts this time.
