September 14, 2005 A Fatal Incuriosity By MAUREEN DOWD
I hate spending time in hospitals and nursing homes. I find them to be some of the most depressing places on earth.
Maybe that's why the stories of the sick and elderly who died, 45 in a New Orleans hospital and 34 in St. Rita's nursing home in the devastated St. Bernard Parish outside New Orleans, haunt me so.
You're already vulnerable and alone when suddenly you're beset by nature and betrayed by your government.

Notice: I don't see the usual NYT blog comment link on this column.
What I mean is that there's usually a link for readers to post comments. Maybe I'm missing it.
I second the motion. 'Course I don't normally cuss, but it would be great to know it's possible.
i don't understand this rule, enlighten me.
I am holding George Bush fully accountible for the bird that dropped a turd on my windshield this morning

The reason the people are being charged with the crimes for leaving the elderly people is because they were offered busses to evacuate the people in need. They were given the chance to evacuate and the owners determined that it would be too hard to do it and just left the people.
They should be hung for what they did, and this hag ought to be shot for her lying comments. But that will never happen, they will get a slap on the wrist, and she will continue to be a witch.
That would be one and the same.
For a while MoDo dated Michale Douglas. It is believed by FReepers that she went totally kookoo after he started dating Catherine Zeta Jones. So, in the hopes of driving her further off the edge, FReepers post a picture of Catherine whenever dodo MoDo is mentioned.
What a drunken piece of hate-filled filth!
"Is this the same nursing home where the parish emergency guy blamed Bush for not saving a co-workers mother for 4 days when in fact she died 4 days earlier and the co-worker, a deputy, did not go rescue his own mother, but told her she was on her own?"
Yes, the same nursing home.
"Momma, they're comin' to get you on Tuesday...Momma, they're comin' to get you Wednesday...Momma, they're comin' to get you on Thursday", etc.
Russert and Broussard are getting a pass on this and it's sickening! Has anyone (Hannity, Drudge, Rush) picked up on the lie?
What Enterprise said.
If they had loaded all those non-ambulatory and infirm patients onto buses and left and one or more died or become more ill only to discover that the nursing home was not destroyed, there would be ten times as many personal-liability lwayers wanting to prosecute them in civil court than this newshound of a prosecutor who doesn't want to be caught dead with his bosses when the mess is finally cleaned up.
These nursing home owners were screwed because they owned the nursing home; which fact left them without the faceless bureaucrat behind the scene to blame when the shit hits the fan.
Well since Mo appears to be the Wicked Witch of the East and Molly looks like the Wicked Witch of the West (or Southwest), a house will probably fall on Mo (The Slimes building), and Red Molly will probably ignite from self-combustion. After somebody throws water on her, she'll melt away. With that much rage, hatred, and bile stored inside those two, something bad has to happen eventually.
She forgets to add that it is the Emma Peel FOURTY years after her prime.
Al Bundy: My God. She was high kicking, too Arrrghhh!!!
"... a house will probably fall on Mo"
For G-0d's Sake, somebody drop a house on that woman"
