Reuters Photog Appears to Capture Bush at U.N. Writing Note About 'Bathroom Break'

NEW YORK In what seems to be destined to become one of the most yacked about photos of the month, if not year, a Reuters photographer today seems to have captured President George W. Bush scribbling a note to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice suggesting that he needed to take a "bathroom break" during a session at the United Nations.

The camera seems to have been quite some distance away. Look at the lines of machine-printed text on behind the hand. They're almost parallel. Perhaps someone with some imaging software can figure out where the vanishing point is and from that infer the actual distance to the camera.

I'm not Bush's biggest fan, but how can anyone go after him for needing to use the bathroom? That's just idiocy.

I guess no one remembers that clip from 1993 when Bill and Hillary are greeting a group of visitors to the White House and Bill whispers to Hillary that he needs a potty break. "You can't leave now," she whispers back (I paraphrase this, based on memory). "These people are getting screwed!" A classic line, and one that I always hoped the Republicans would use later in campaign ads, but being Republicans they had the good taste not to do it.
