Michael Moore's [Lying] Letter -- About Katrina Relief

The latest fundraising letter from Michael Moore, with some interpolations:

Mike's Letter

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005
We've Raised a Half-Million Dollars and Sent over 50 Tons of Food and Water

[Just yesterday, Moore claimed they had delivered over 100 tons.]

Friends,

Last week I closed my New York production office and sent my staff down to New Orleans to set up our own relief effort. [LOL] I asked all of you to help me [it's all about helping him] by sending food, materials and cash to the emergency relief center we helped set up on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain with the Veterans for Peace. [He means the pup tents they have put up in the campground. They have no "relief center.]

We did this when the government was doing nothing and the Red Cross was still trying to get it together. [The VFP are living off of Red Cross supplies and taking them to their radical pals.]

Every day, every minute was critical. People were dying, poor people, black people, left like so much trash in the street. [There is no evidence of this. No media reports, no photographs even from the VFP of Moore himself. These are simply lies designed to raise money for Michael Moore.]

I wanted to find a way to get aid in there immediately. [Michael Moore is a multi-millionaire. How much money has he donated to Katrina relief? And why did he take two weeks to get involved? Such as little as he has. Was it because he only now has decided to make a movie about Katrina? For money?]

I hooked up with the Vietnam veterans and Iraqi war vets (Veterans for Peace) who were organizing a guerilla, grass-roots relief effort. They were the same group that had set up Cindy Sheehan's camp in Crawford and now they had moved Camp Casey to Louisiana. [Organizing might not be the right word here. The VFP have tried to take credit for the Red Cross and other relief efforts. They have themselves done next to nothing. They are the worst kind of Robin Hoods. They are stealing from the people who are trying to help the victims to give to themselves and their ultra left radical pals.]

I have good news and horrible news to report. [We never hear the horrible news. The good news is simply made up.] First, your response to my appeal letter was overwhelming. Within a few days, a half-million dollars was sent in through my website to fund our relief effort.

This money was immediately used to buy generators, food, water, a mobile medical van, tents, satellite phones, etc. [Where is this "mobile medical van"? Isn't it fraud to make such claims? However, we know that one generator was bought and promptly delivered to the Moslem radical Malik Rahim, who took it to his mosque.]

Others of you began shipping supplies to our encampment. [So now it is Michael Moore's encampment. And they are not shipping supplies there, but to the Omni-Mini storage.] People in communities all over the country started organizing truck caravans to us in Louisiana. Twenty-two trucks from southern California alone have already arrived. A semi-truck from Chicago delivered ten tons of food. [Yesterday it was 20 tons.]

A group of friends in New Jersey got two 24 foot trucks, got their community to load them up with goods, and arrived in Covington tonight. [Does anybody believe these stories about all of these truck caravans? Bobbie Blanchard, who runs the Omni-Storage says she has seen a couple of small pick-up trucks. But that is it. No piles of supplies. No caravans.]

Fifteen iMacs are inbound from California. [How wonderful for those victims! But where are the 50 $600 iPods? Where are the $3000 computer monitors they demanded?] One man gave us his pick-up truck and another donated truck is en route from Houston.

Your response to my appeal has been nothing short of miraculous. And it has saved many, many lives.

A number of you decided to just get in your cars and drive to our camp to volunteer to help. We now have had 150 volunteers here doing the work that needs to be done. Last night they unloaded twenty tons of food from a tractor trailer in under two hours. [We're now back to it being 20 tons. We have now been told this miracle happened on four different nights. It actually happened several days ago, when the Red Cross still had its shelter in the Pine View school. The food appears to have been delivered to the Red Cross shelter. There is no evidence that the VFP had anything to do with it. ]

Each day more volunteers arrive. Everyone is sleeping on the ground or in tents. It is a remarkable sight. [So remarkable, we cannot have photos of it. The few photos there are of the campground show no such numbers.] Thank you, all of you, for responding. I will never forget this outpouring of generosity to those forgotten by our own government. [It was all done out of love for Michael Moore.]

My staff and the vets spend their 18-hour days delivering food and water throughout the city of New Orleans and the surrounding areas. [Where are the news reports? Where are the photographs? I thought MM was famous for photographing everything? Neither MM or the VFP have posted one photograph of them delivering supplies as they claim. Where are the Camp Casey kitchens that Michael Moore says they must keep going?]

What they have seen is appalling. I have asked them to post their daily diaries on my website (www.michaelmoore.com) along with accompanying photos and video so you can learn what is really going on. [We have been promised photos for days now. The few MM has shown, like those of the Red Cross supplies, they have grossly misrepresented as being their own.]

What the media is showing you is NOT the whole story. It is much, much worse and there is still little being done to bring help to those who need it. [Where are the reports? Where are the photos? Instead, we are supposed to take Michael Moore at his word. Lest we forget, MM's friend Andrea Garland started the lie about the levees being dynamited. His other ally in this effort, the VFP's point of delivery is Ward Reilly, who lied for years about being a Vietnam Combat veteran. We should take their word? We should believe their fear mongering agit-prop? They are telling the worst kind of lies, spreading the ugliest stories, simply to raise money for themselves and their radical cause.]

Our group has visited many outlying towns and villages in Mississippi and Louisiana, places the Red Cross and FEMA haven't visited in over a week. [Notice the constant attacks on the Red Cross. MM and the VFP and Malik Rahim are trying to develop an alternative to the Red Cross (e.g., the Green Cross). They take the supplies from the Red Cross and pass them out in their name and get the credit for them. It's a despicable scam.]

Often our volunteers are the first relief any of these people have seen. They have no food, water or electricity. People die every day. There are no TV cameras recording this. [Why is that? Wouldn't that make great agit-prop? Are they vaporizing the bodies?

They have started to report the spin and PR put out by the White House, the happy news that often isn't true ("Everyone gets 2,000 dollars!"). [Moore says this in a "letter" that is simply propaganda geared to raising money for him and his radical pals. Moore posts photos of Red Cross supplies, and claims they are from the VFP, then has the gall to talk about "spin."]

The truth is that there are dead bodies everywhere and no one is picking them up. [Is that the truth? If so, why don't they pick them up? And again, where are the photos? Is there a court order stopping you from showing them?]

My crew reports that in most areas there is no FEMA presence, and very little Red Cross. [Yes, that is the area that has been evacuated because of concerns of disease. The Red Cross has not gone in there because the people have to get out. So that MM and his crowd won't be complaining about all of the diseased people in a week or two.]

It's been over two weeks since the hurricane and there is simply not much being done. At this point, would you call this situation incompetence or a purposeful refusal to get real help down there? [Nothing is being done, except for the most extensive storm recovery in the history of the world. These lies are just criminal. Michael Moore and the VFP have done little to nothing, apart from raising money for themselves and pilfering Red Cross supplies and then giving them to their ultra left America-hating buddies. Don't take my word for it. Read their bulletin board. They sound like a Chinese fire drill. Most of their "volunteers" are useless eaters who are just eating food and taking up space that should go to the refugees. They usually post to ask for gas money. Worst of all they are stealing Red Cross supplies that should be going to the Katrina casualties.]

That's why we decided not to wait. [That is, now that it is two weeks later.] And we are so grateful to all of you who have joined us. The Veterans for Peace and my staff aren't leaving (and that's why we are hoping those of you who can't get to Covington will make it to the Veterans for Peace co-sponsored anti-war demonstration in DC on September 24: www.unitedforpeace.org.) [Well, of course they will leave for the big anti-war demonstration in DC on the 24th. Which is what all of the fund raising and supplies are really for in actuality. The fundraising list they use for Katrina was simply modified from their list of needs for the anti-war rally on the 24th. They have only recently taken out the multimedia and computer requests, and added canned goods and diapers.]

If you want to help, here's what we need in Covington right now:

Cleaning Supplies (glass cleaner, bleach, disinfectant, etc.)
Aspirin and other basic over the counter drugs.
Bottled Water
Canned Goods
Hygiene Supplies
Baby Supplies - Baby Food Formula, diapers #4, #5, Wipes, Pedialyte
Sterile Gloves
Batteries - All kinds, from AA to watch and hearing aid batteries.
Volunteers with trucks and cars
Self contained kitchens with generators, utensils, workers

Consider sending supplies in reusable containers. List the contents on the outside of the package so the folks in the warehouse can easily sort the items. [They have no warehouse.]

Clothes are not needed. If you go, keep in mind that you MUST be self-sufficient. Bring a tent and a sleeping bag. People are driving to Covington from across the country and often have extra room in their cars for you or for an extra box of supplies. For more information, go to the Veterans for Peace message board.

Send supplies via UPS to:
Veterans for Peace
Omni Storage
74145 Hwy. 25
Covington LA

[Moore talks constantly about incompetence, then lists this as the place to send supplies. The VFP have been thrown out of that location. The VFP lied to owner to get in there in the first place. They had told her they were with the Red Cross. At the moment the highly organized VFP have no storage facility. But remember, the Red Cross, whose supplies they steal, are the incompetent ones.]

Thanks again for funding and supporting our relief efforts. It has been a bright spot in this otherwise shameful month.

Yours,
Michael Moore

You have a lot to be ashamed of, Michael Moore. Hopefully, the forthcoming investigations into the Katrina relief frauds will put you and your pals from Camp Casey behind bars.

Maybe someone will make a movie about it.

I think it has been established that Michael Moore is fat. Could be please concentrate on what he and the Veterans For Peace are doing here, which seems to be criminal and is surely morally reprehensible--rather than his weight?

anyone notice that the people in MS and AL do not whine like the New Orleans crowd does. They simply take care of their problems and have been pretty much ignored by the media.

Good Lord, who actually reads all those newsletters? I wouldn't have time to read that novel length load of garbage even if I liked what they had to say.

Moore is lying? What would be headline news would be if he ever spoke the truth!

"Moore is lying? What would be headline news would be if he ever spoke the truth!"

If you had read the piece you would see that he is doing more than just lying.

He and his friends are taking credit for the work the Red Cross is doing, while trashing the Red Cross.

They are giving Red Cross supplies to their ultra-left radical friends, who are distributing it in their name and giving MM and the Veterans For Peace all the credit.

It is major fraud. And given the circumstances, reprehensible as hell.

The government forgot to tell him that a diet of Chee-toes can make you fat, which in turn can cause death! Bush is so wicked!

Related interesting fact:

shareyourhome.com just reported on the Dennis Prager show that the states that have been particularly generous are Texas and Florida. (When in difficulty, call a Red State). 25,000 people have volunteered their homes.
