HEY, IF ANYONE IN THE BLUE STATES WANTS A FEW OF OURS IN TEXAS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO INVITE SOME TO YOUR STATE!
(I'm yelling because I'm feeling desperate here...:)
We were then told by FEMA and the Red Cross that no one would be coming (supposedly they didn't "want to" leave the shelter).
However, there have been at least two stories published here of local churches renting vans to go to LA to pick up a few relatives of folks in the central Iowa area. When they arrived at the shelters, other people begged to come along. They brought as many as they could with the vehicles available, but many people who wanted to come were left out.
I think some of the "evacuees" are having their decisions made for them, for some reason.
I'm with you. I wish some of the 205,000 would go somewhere else just out of political necessity. This is a Republican state and that many might tip the balance.
That sounds mean and we Texans have big hearts. I think we have had great press with our efforts, but I don't see how we can sustain that many over the long haul.
Every evacuee I have seen on TV said the people are so wonderful in Texas that they are going to stay. Not that I don't love my fellow Americans, but these folks are definitely Democrat voters. I bet the Dems are thinking the same thing.
Understandable ... and I second your statement.
