That's great news, Pol. I know we Californians catch a lot of guff from other FReepers around the country, but we do have big hearts in situations like this.
In my post about the rescued dogs, I should have said it was Los Angeles County Fire Search and Rescue who picked up that poor dog. He was standing on some wooden debris between two buildings. He looked thin, and probably only had that dirty water to drink. I don't think he was a purebred Lab. To big, and his head had hints of Boxer or maybe pit bull -- hard to tell via TV. Friendly guy. Just scared. But once the firefighters coaxed him over, he got into the boat as calm as you please, then rode on the bow all the way out.
Sad thing is, many of the rescued animals will never be reunited with their owners, so unless they get adopted, they'll wind up being put down anyway. But at least they aren't facing a slow, horrible death in that stricken city.
