We've had hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and all that before.
But have we ever before forced people out of their homes and taken their firearms because of it?
Not to my knowledge. Something has changed, and changed for the worse.
That Parrot is dead.
Another swipe at provoking civil unrest. This time, those who resist are likely to be middle class working people who have property they want to defend.I hope the media does not portray resitance to the forced evacuation as a race thing -- but if wishes were horses, my house would be full of horse poop.
For my money, the first group that should be forcibly evacuated are the thugs and homeless, but they are not quite the easy targets.

What bothers me most is if there is a mandatory evacuation, how can private security not be forced to evacuate? they are not part of the government, and are not (as far as I know) current sworn officers...It appears they are being handed two things above mere citizens..the right to be in the area and the right to bear arms..thus advancing their status and value ($$$) over mere citizens....It's either martial law with the military in there evacuating everyone (security included)and if need be taking firearms or it isn't. These people clearly don't know what the heck they are doing.
1/3 or more of the NO (corrupt)police force deserts and looters ran wild and now they want to take people's firearms?
The authorities need a spokesperson to get on TV and tell everyone what they are going to do BEFORE they do it and cite their authority along with peoples options and penalties....The government at all levels works for the people and they should never forget it.
As far as the public health aspect, I agree they have the right to either quarantine or move people out. The public health dept. should make determinations first by neighborhoods, then if necessary, house by house, as to the conditions. Do they have water and sanitation?(either provided by city or themselves) if so leave them alone. A man's home is his castle....
Welcome to Louisiana, dogs and guns subject to confiscation...give us time we'll think of something else....
At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.
Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, medicine, and shelter. We need help taking care of their pets, too.
If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you. Believe me, there are a lot of organizations who need your help.
Right now the site mostly covers Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas but I'm adding more every night. My wife was down at Reunion Arena in Dallas Tuesday handing out care packages and spiritually ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer. She says that the situation is tragic and that there's a lot of work to be done. There are so many children who don't know where their parents are or even if their parents are still alive.
There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would appreciate it if you would get the word out.
Many thanks,
Michael McCullough

O.K., so they are being forced to leave and having their guns confiscated because there is no water, electricity or phones? If I stop paying my utilities will I loose my second amendment and personal property rights because I'm poor? Sounds like discrimination to me. By the way, if any government agency for any reason tries to confiscate my guns, I will have to ask them, How many of your men is it worth for you to have my guns? Do you love your job enough to die today to get them?
NY Slimes is less credible than the National Enquirer.
All thanks to duly elected Democrats and their cronies!
Have you seen this? I didn't have a ping from you so I am not sure if you've seen it.
good news for armed looters.
Major Ping
Has this ever happened in the USA before?
If not this is an incredibly dangerous precedent.

This is a good way to get some people killed.
DO NOT EVER REGISTER YOUR GUNS PERIOD i dont care what the law says dont do it ever
For all you rationalizers out there, turn in your weapons and report to the nearest kolhoz (collective farm) afterall the motherland knows best, tovarisch (comrade).
Don't register firearms with the government. The one time you really need them (emergency) they will be taken away from you.
I have a couple of old beaters I woudn't miss if it meant saving my good guns.
Ahem.
In the "Old" West, fellers pretty promptly figured out that if you wanted to be "safe" (armed for self defense) AND go to town and gamble and drink and carry on...you needed a badge.
Translates,
thanks for the heads-up. next time, just post a reply to the originator and insert my UserID in the "to" box ;)
