Just reported on Britt Hume's show
FNC
Posted on 09/07/2005 3:30:30 PM PDT by carlr
Major Garrett is talking with Britt and reported that a Red Cross representative told him the LA state homeland security department refused them permission to take food and water to the Superdome because they did`nt want to encourage people to go there.
They wanted to get people out and were afraid that providing support would be a "magnet" atttracting more displaced persons.
To paraphrase, the state was looking to discourage people through hardship out of the Superdome. All the aid in the world wouldnt have gotten through.

Bump. I saw that segment, too. Fell outta my chair. IMO, this is big.

It just makes me sick.

I'll keep an eye out for it, but I'm not sure there will be a transcript. But, fingers and toes crossed!
Garrett's report was detailed, wide-reaching and worth catching the rerun of the show tonight. And, is another example the kind of insightful reporting we only find on Brit's show.

I heard that...incredible!! Insane!! However, I just happened to stroll over to CNN(puke, puke!) hoping their "IT'S BUSH'S FAULT" tone would have subsided by all the evidence coming out.... ARE YOU KIDDING! The presstitutes are in a WARPATH and it's to KILL!! I hate it when they put our military down...ughhhh, Lou had a reporter butthole tearing into the rescuers, BLAMING THEM for not filling up their Helicopters all the way...FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, I KID YOU NOT!! MAN! The CNN poll gotten all the RATS in a twisty knot!! I tuned out pronto! My health is always at stake when I tune into CNN!

The question then becomes WHEN were they refused access? When there were thousands of people at the ThunderDome and at the Convention Center. And the state authorities were vocally complaining that the Fed relief effort was no good, and while Shep went histrionic. That's when.

Could the trucks even get there? Wasn't the dome surounded by 4' of water? Idk, someone inform me of this. That was my argument: How do you set up staging for relief efforts in 4-8 feet of water? I could tell they were on higher ground. But, how do you get there?
These aren't rhetorical, someone answer these please.

Woops, I wrote "Cameron" instead of Garret. Didn't even notice until just now!

I saw that report. I say if the Libs want an investigation, then bring it on!I don't work that way, my FRiend. The more stuff like this gets out into the light of day, the more the Democrat's will want to "move on" (.org), look forward to making a better future, and have navel-gazing studies and focus groups.
They only shriek and scream for accountability if they think they can somehow blame the Bush administration.

Major Garrett, former White House reporter fired by CNN. Wonder if they fired him after getting a whiff of his reasonable, non left-wing leanings.

Why didn't George Bush know this and get the Red Cross through?
At every turn during this disaster it is becoming more and more apparant that it is all George Bush's fault.

I have been lurking for months now enjoying the Daily Dose and so many other great areas on this site. I just had to register today to say that I also saw Major Garrett on with Brit Hume and could hardly believe my ears! Finally, the truth and some sanity seems to be seeping into this outrageously biased news coverage we have been hearing over this past week. Even Fox has turned my stomach and they have been my staple and source of last resort for quite a while. Things seem to be looking up! We shall see.

The Red Cross and FEMA relief vehicles were denied entry into the city before the levees broke and flooded the Superdome area. They were headed for the Superdome to refurbish basic supplies and were told "no" by the State of LA.

Where within the hour did the segment come on ..?? I'd like to watch it too. I've been boycotting the news because I'm so sick of listen to the whiners and Bush-bashers.
