Just behind Gray Davis.
Some people are just so fun to be around, are they not?!
Why would one bus work and not the others? They were parked in the same lot.
Anyone try them?
Someone please have Blanco read the LA statutes.
This is an excerpt from N.O. evacuation plan. I am pretty sure they did not pull the mayor's authority out of thin air.
III. EVACUATION ORDER
A. Authority
As established by the City of New Orleans Charter, the government has jurisdiction and responsibility in disaster response. City government shall coordinate its efforts through the Office of Emergency Preparedness
The authority to order the evacuation of residents threatened by an approaching hurricane is conferred to the Governor by Louisiana Statute. The Governor is granted the power to direct and compel the evacuation of all or part of the population from a stricken or threatened area within the State, if he deems this action necessary for the preservation of life or other disaster mitigation, response or recovery. The same power to order an evacuation conferred upon the Governor is also delegated to each political subdivision of the State by Executive Order. This authority empowers the chief elected official of New Orleans, the Mayor of New Orleans, to order the evacuation of the parish residents threatened by an approaching hurricane.
This is a power struggle! All politics is a struggle for power... not what is best for you and I!
No matter how incompentent a Governor or Mayor maybe... only the citizens of that state have the authority to determine if the Mayor or Governor should be removed from office. Yet, we have posters making value judgements based on a biased media's presentation.
This is nothing new. Events such as this has happened many times in history. And reporters are always out there to make a name for themselves and sells news. Today it seems that Americans have tossed the U.S. Constitution in the trash can in their decision making. I am certain the U.S. Constitution will not survive another decade with education turning out such poorly educated citizens.
IMHO... this entire event is media driven... to provoke a confrontration between citizens who want to stay and the military. Blood sells news.
Thank God most... on this forum and the Federal Government does not have U.S. Constitutional authority to remove a State Citizen from his property. The Governor's decision would be a differents matter, depending on how the Louisiana Constitution is written. It appears most on this forum follow lock-step the liberal institution of indoctrination.
You must have missed the great photo of the dolphin in the swimming pool at a Mississippi hotel. These dolphins are being trained to deliver food, water and other provisions to those who refuse to evacuate.
This woman seems to be avoiding all criticism from the MSM. Complete immunity.
That's because she's the rank(ing) DemonRAT that never strayed from the reservation. Everybody else (excepting the NOPD, whose role in the blame is because the Loony Left hatest the police) is either a Republican or a RAT that has at one time or another left the reservation.

I hope your'e joking...I'm no Peta freak but I would hate to see those animals placed into that toxic sludge to bring food to very, very stoopid humans.
One has to wonder exactly what is going on down there.
Negative. That would be a very presumptuous power grab. The offer to organize the relief under Federal umbrella was made on Friday, Sept 2nd. A wwek before that, there was no disaster, and no certainty that Louisiana would suffer any more damage than it had handled before.
The languge in the WaPo article also indicates (but does not recite) Friday, September 2nd.
DangerKitty no like Blanco
Had a lib professor that I liked to argue with, said "everything is politics, everything"(Got my hard left insight from him). I of course said that is not the case. He adamantly disagreed. I don't see this as a power struggle between the state and fed gov'ts insofar as I see it as a political struggle, i.e. dems cannot let a repub be seen as helpful. For a liberal, nothing transcends politics. We saw this only one week after 9/11. We see that today in Iraq. The libs are ready to take down this nation rather than have the GOP in power, let alone conservatives.
I think the media drives this story only because the think the can hurt the GOP with it. Characterize the GOP as racist, etc. I see this as a right v. left battle instead of a fed v. state battle. All for the reason that "everything is politics" to the left.
Yes I was joking.
BK, I can't stop laughing, ROFLMAO! What? Has no one dared tell Gov Weepy that the water is filled with bodies, and sewage and oil and ecoli and chemicals...I could go on. Now she and Nagin are turning on each other, after their massive failures to take action in advance. Priceless. I suppose the footage of folks stranded along the interstate roads surrounded by garbage, without food or water isn't enough for her? Amazing. They continue to unravel, Blanco and Nagin. And their constituents continue to suffer.
Yes, they certainly are! :-)
