Blanco rescinds Nagin evacuation order - my title
9/7/05 | me

Governor Blanco just said on Fox News Channel that Mayor Nagin does not have the authority to order evacuation of New Orleans, that the authority rests with her....and she doesn't have evidence that it is unsafe!

'twas laughing at the imagery her words brought by mentioning the Keystone Cops...seems to me that Laurel and Hardy would have been just as good "in charge," of LA, as well. : )

This Major Garrett story needs its own thread. I just saw it and was stunned. I assume there will be a story posted on Fox?

That one story, that the Red Cross was turned away with the needed supplies by the state of Louisiana, should (but probably won't) silence every critic screaming about Bush for the last week.

Because the LA national guard has not been nationalized - those LA NG soldiers are only getting paid $20 a day working 20+ hours a day! This info from a father calling in to Oreilly's radio show. This is so wrong! Blank -o needs to be held responsible for sooo sooo much. Problem is who is going to call her on all this?

Maybe this is why he left the busses parked in their lots under 10 feet of water - self-preservation.

LOL

Hmmm, maybe I should have phrased that one better. How about, "he'll be thrown over the side". That one's not much better. I give up.

I'm sure that FEMA has been keeping very good records about what they have been asked and what questions they have asked and have been told to go fly a kite.

Remember this event started when the storm crossed Florida earlier in the week.

In order to move all those people out of New Orleans, Nagin would have needed the governor to open up shelters throughout the state, and find more shelters in nearby states. I grew up on the Louisiana Gulf coast, and spent a couple of hurricanes in shelters in north Louisiana. She would have had to open up just about every school, and send more buses.

Which means that the governor is even more culpable in this fiasco. She didn't want to cough up the dough required to do this. I know that the shelters around where I live were open and full.

The caption for that picture should read: Marie Antoinette said, "Let them eat cake!" Governor Blanco said, "Let them walk on water!"

That woman is a disgrace!

Actually the rest of the state is pretty conservative and not insane. The problem has been in the NO area because of the stranglehold of the corrupt dems there.

Things might be looking up, then. New Orleans turnout in the next election is likely to be pretty light, don't you think? The members of the New Orleans Diaspora will be voting elsewhere, if at all (hopefully not, in most cases). Time for a 'Rat purge!

It's all making me start to wonder if the dems aren't all in on this and working behind the scenes. I don't mean from the start, but soon after, because it's a way for them to trash President Bush.

If true, I hope they don't have these guys passing out the $2,000 debit cards. Would kinda rub some the wrong way I suppose.

I think you are onto something! Yes, the dems are working together to sink Blanco, but why? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

There's a lot of money heading that way. They want her out of the way so they can get their hands on it. Doesn't Senator Landrieu have a brother who can step in?

Follow the money. Lots of money.

Do you think that the decision on being pragmatic vs stubborn is your decision

Look, when the whole area is f@$%ed, staying puts you in the way. Sheesh. You owe it to your fellow citizens to NOT become part of the problem. Orderly evac under those conditions I see as beneficial. Your waterbed would have saved you from the hysteria and mayem of the first few days, protected your property etc.

Hell, your right, just go back to drinking your waterbed.

She's simply overwhelmed and not qualified for the job. Nagin isn't either. Neither one of them were qualified. It's being proven more and more as we speak. Let the "in fighting" begin!
