That reminds me of the time in mid 1999 when the Millenium thing was really heating up. My husband and I went to a Chinese restaurant with some friends where the grandpa was doing the checkout at the cash register and computing everything using an abacus.

My computer geek friend asked the old man, "Hey .... is that Y1K compatible?" The grandson behind the counter started laughing hysterically. Apparently he got the joke, but the grandpa (who is probably ESL :-) didn't.
