Former presidents, Bush and Clinton gave a news conference today. Towards the end, as Bush and Clinton were walking off the stage, at about 10:20 am EST, I heard a female reporter shout a last question that went "how do you respond to rumors that the levees were intentionally opened ?"

All this crack was invented to kill the black ghetto tripe is not from the Clinton presidential years. It is urban legand from the Reagan years and swirled around the Contra's expat Nicaraguan elite being allowed to bring in cocaine from Contra controlled strips in Costa Rica and Honduras during the Contra War against the Sandinistas after said cocaine was transhipped from Colombia.
Said cocaine was then said to have been sent to LA and cooked up into crack as a plot to kill black youth.
The allegations involved tons and tons of coke and supposedly C-130s loaded with the stuff being unloaded at Homestead and McDill.
A) There is proof that some Contra supporters were in fact smuggling cocaine since some were arrested and sent to prison. They had help from Cuban exiles too who went to jail as well.
B) There were some black gang leaders in LA who were indeed buying cocaine by the multi-kilo from folks associated with Contra supporting dope smugglers.
C) Said Contra supporting dope smugglers had lots of dope and were shipping it everywhere...not exclusively to LA or to any inner city for that matter.
D) There is no evidence about the CIA other than maybe some intelligence officials made it clear they were more intersting in stopping Marxism in Central America than drug interdiction. Folks have to remember that our military was not involved in drug interdiction back then yet....and the 12 miles coastline was still honoured more or less....I know...seems quaint now.
E) To the best of my knowledge crack cocaine was "invented" in NYC by Jamaican gangs looking to expand profits and they learned the practice from Colombians in Jackson Heights, Queens who already knew all about "bazooka" and "champagne".
F) The rest of this is hype with even less proof than other great legends like Carlos Marcello or LBJ killed Kennedy and whatnot.
The Contra supporter-Colombian drug smuggling effort involved huge amounts of cocaine....far more than your average gangbanger would have been able to handle back then. This was the usual nationwide distributing network.
The real conspiracy meat in all this though is that it is "probable" that some US military and intelligence assets did ignore some smuggling activity because they felt they has bigger fish to fry and they though it was policework. Beyond that is Christic Institute myth projection. They wish. I think the Lyndon LaRouche folks back then peddled this myth as well.
The Mena conspiracy part swirls around Clinton as governor of Arkansas and black ops at the Mena airport.
It goes back to Stalin....say it over and over and over and it will stick.
This whole thing was dreamed up to embarass Reagan and the CIA and embraced by the Maxine Waters of the world to as usual shuck any black responsibility from flooding the hood with crack.

You're still way off the mark....Unless you can provide a different post of yours in support of Waters' being "closer to the truth."
Where's the myth? It was not "probable." It's proven. The CIA had nothing to do with it, nor did the Reagan or Bush 41 administrations. But it was not "probable." It's proven. Evidence shows it, and even Bill Clinton inadvertently admitted it.
