Arron Brousard, President of Jefferson Parish, claimed that the Emergency Management Director for his area mother was trapped in a building for 5 days, calling her son every day until she drowned on last Friday.
The guy was the President of Jefferson Parish, and the friend was the building manager at his building (I'm guessing either their city hall or emergency command center).
Question #2: Were the "friend" and the guy sobbing on Russert talking to each other everyday?
Since they worked together, I think yes.
QUESTION #3: How did the mother call her son? Cell Phone? Land line?
Not clear. Her nursing home was in St. Bernard Parish, east of New Orleans.
My guess is that the guy kept requesting assistance from Broussard to rescue his mother, and that Broussard made an appeal to FEMA or others to coordinate her rescue in St. Bernard. He most likely encouraged his friend (possibly a subordinate) to stay at his post instead of trying to go to his mother.
It does seem odd that she drowned 5 days after the hurricane.
But aslo see the other story about Vancouver Search and Rescue just geeting into that parish. While the focus has been on Orleans Parish, there are three or four others that are nearly as devastated, especially St. Bernard and Plaqimines.
The video of Broussard's "breakdown" on MTP is still posted on MSNBC's website. He stated it was "St Bernard's" nursing home, but whether that's the name of the home, or the name of the parish is unclear. NYTimes has an article about a nursing home in St Bernard parish where some were found dead on Friday. Link to story:

"...*Phone records, PLEASE! Come on reporters -DO YOUR JOB."
There are going to be thousands of personal tragedies as a result of this disaster - why would the press spend time trying to prove or disprove one of them?
Exactly - given that people no doubt HAVE lost relatives in similarly tragic circumstances to those cited by Broussard, I doubt there's any appetite to investigate his story. The press will just claim that the "substance" of the story is true even if the "specifics" are not.
Because the dude is a tool of the MSM and trying to deflect his own inadequacies?
