Disagree. I recently helped to recover a GMC truck with a 6.5 diesel that had been in the Red River for a couple of days (buddy thought the ground was a little softer and slid it into the river).
The engine was toast. wouldn't run even after we drained and dried it.
The difference is that in your situation, the engine was running and took in water, damaging the engine components.
